Firsty Credits are the balance stored in your Firsty Wallet. Today they work as money you can apply at checkout when you buy eligible paid plans in the Firsty app or the Grab mini‑app — not as a way to replace Firsty Free (ad‑supported data). New customers are not sold the old Flex pay‑as‑you‑go mode; a few existing accounts (including some Grab users) may still see Flex while we migrate them.
For Grab travellers using Firsty inside the Grab app, see also: How to Purchase Daily Plans or Credits with Grab — same wallet, but the Grab journey is data only (no Firsty in‑app calling there) and offers daily passes (including First Class) plus Pay as you go gigabyte packs (1 / 3 / 5 / 10 / 20 GB, tiered discounts, 30‑day packs — detail in that article). Monthly subscriptions are not sold through the Grab mini‑app; use the main Firsty app if your product catalogue offers a monthly plan.
What you can use Credits for
Daily plans (for example Comfort+ / First Class day passes where offered in your app) — pay fully or partly with wallet balance when checkout offers Credits / wallet.
Monthly subscriptions — when the main Firsty app lets you subscribe with wallet pay (not in the Grab mini‑app).
Credits are applied when you confirm a purchase of one of those products. The exact price, currency, and whether “Pay with wallet” appears depend on your region and the current app build.
What you cannot use Credits for
Firsty Free — watching ads or using the free allowance does not spend wallet balance, and you cannot use Credits to “buy out” or extend Firsty Free instead of watching ads. Firsty Free and paid plans are separate paths.
Flex (legacy cohort) — new accounts are not sold Flex-style pay‑as‑you‑go data. A small number of existing customers (including some Grab users) may still have Flex enabled while we migrate them; those accounts should follow what the app shows today (often about a gigabyte‑equivalent of wallet credits usable toward data in the legacy Flex way). If in doubt, contact Support from the app.
Earning Credits by watching ads — there is no option to watch advertisements to earn wallet Credits.
How to add Credits to your wallet
Top‑up — purchase Credits with a supported payment method (card, Apple/Google Pay, GrabPay where available, etc.).
Referrals — your personal invite link can add Credits when friends qualify; check the Hello menu / Credit area in the app for your link.
Profile rewards — where the app offers small bonuses for completing email or phone details, those credit the wallet when you complete the step.
Cashback or partner promotions (for example Grab 100% cashback on a first purchase) add value to your wallet according to the rules shown at the time of payment — see the Grab article linked above.
Firsty Free vs Credits (quick comparison)
Topic | Firsty Free | Firsty Credits |
Cost | Free, ad‑supported | Purchased or promotional balance |
Use | In‑app flow for eligible users | Checkout for paid daily plans and monthly subscriptions (monthly in the main Firsty app, not Grab) |
Wallet | Not deducted for ad sessions | Used when you pay with wallet at purchase |
Other wallet use (Calling)
In‑app calling in the main Firsty app (where available for your account) may debit your wallet balance per minute or session according to in‑app rates — that is separate from buying a data plan. Grab’s Firsty experience is data only — there is no Firsty calling checkout there. If you use calling in the main app, keep some balance or a payment method on file. See Using calling with Firsty.
Do Credits expire?
Wallet balance itself is stored on your account; unused balance does not automatically “evaporate” on a fixed day like a single GB bundle might. Plans and gigabyte bundles you buy can have their own validity and expiry — those rules are set per product at purchase (for example a 30‑day window on a gigabyte bundle in Grab). Always read the summary on the checkout screen before you pay.
Buying more than one product (how it works under the hood)
This section reflects how Firsty’s systems treat stacking today so support and power users have a clear mental model. In‑app labels may simplify this.
Daily passes (same product line)
If you already have an active daily allowance and you buy more days of the same daily line, the system extends your end date by the extra days you bought (it does not throw away your previous purchase). If you are buying for the first time, the clock starts from activation rules shown in the app.
Gigabyte bundles
Each gigabyte purchase is normally its own bundle with its own expiry window (from the plan’s rules — often 30 days from activation where the product says so). You can have several gigabyte bundles active at once; they are tracked as separate entitlements behind the scenes even if the app shows one combined usage meter for convenience. Buying a new bundle does not “top up” the expiry of an older bundle — each pack keeps its own end date until used or expired.
Grab mini‑app: Fixed‑GB packs are usually labelled Pay as you go in the shop. Sizes, volume discounts, First Class daily behaviour, and the swipe gesture to see days vs GB together are documented in How to Purchase Daily Plans or Credits with Grab.
Exact days and MB always follow what you see at purchase time in Firsty or Grab.
Pause and resume (daily products)
Some daily products support Pause / Resume in the app so you can park unused days when your trip changes. Gigabyte bundles are time‑ and volume‑limited differently — use the in‑app detail for that pack. If you are unsure, ask us in Support from the app.
FAQ — things customers ask
Can I use Credits instead of watching ads on Firsty Free?
No. Firsty Free stays ad‑based where you have it; Credits are for paid plan checkout (and calling in the main Firsty app where that feature applies).
I used to have Flex — what happened?
New customers are not sold Flex. If you still have Flex on your account (some Grab travellers do while we migrate), use the app as shown today — you may still have wallet value usable in the legacy Flex way (roughly a gigabyte‑equivalent of credits to spend on data) until we move you to the new daily / gigabyte bundle experience. Everyone will be migrated over the coming days and weeks; we will not ask you to lose paid value without notice.
Does buying another GB reset the 30 days on my old GB?
No. Each purchase keeps its own validity. New packs add new capacity and new expiry; they do not extend old packs.
If I buy 7 more days while I still have 3 days left on a daily pass, do I lose the 3?
Under the hood, extra days extend the same active daily entitlement — you are not meant to lose paid days when adding more of the same line. If something looks wrong, contact Support with screenshots.
Who should I trust if this article disagrees with my app?
The app at checkout wins. Product rules change by region and partner; we update this article when we can.
Still unsure? Open Support from the Firsty app and tell us whether you are on Firsty directly or Grab, what you tried to buy, and what the checkout screen showed.
