Yes. Florence is a real healthcare staffing app. Nurses and personal support workers use it to book shifts at care homes in Ontario. Some people use our name to take money from job seekers, so this article explains how joining Florence really works and what to do if someone has asked you to pay.
Florence never charges you to join.
Registering with Florence is free, and so is finding and booking shifts. We don't charge a fee to process your application, speed it up or guarantee you work. If someone asks you for money to join Florence, it isn't us.
You register yourself, in the app.
Everyone joins by downloading the Florence app and creating their own account. It's called Florence: healthcare shifts on Google Play and Florence Flex: care shifts on the App Store. There's no agent or middleman to pay to do it for you. You can see what you'll need in How do I register?
We don't recruit people from abroad.
Florence isn't a recruitment or immigration agency. We don't place people from other countries in jobs in Canada, and we don't arrange work permits or visas. We also don't write letters for immigration applications. If you already work with us, we can give you a letter confirming the hours you've worked through Florence. Just ask. To join, you need to already be eligible to work in Canada, with at least one year of Canadian clinical experience.
We'll never ask for your password.
Nobody from Florence will ask for your password by phone, email, text or chat. We also won't ask you to send money of any kind, whether that's a bank transfer, a gift card or cryptocurrency.
Signs it isn't Florence
They ask you to pay for registration, training, a job offer or a guaranteed placement.
They promise you a job in Canada, a visa or a work permit.
They say they work with Florence but contact you from a personal email address or only through a messaging app.
They push you to pay quickly before the offer goes away.
If you've already paid someone
Stop sending money, even if they say one more payment will release the job. Keep everything they sent you. That includes receipts, bank or transfer records, emails, texts and WhatsApp messages, and any contract or letter. Screenshots help too.
Report it to your local police. In Canada you can also report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. If you live outside Canada, report it to the police and the consumer protection agency in your country. If you paid by card or bank transfer, call your bank straight away. They may be able to stop or reverse the payment.
We can't get your money back, but we'd still like to know. Tell us who contacted you and what they said. If you'd like us to check whether you have an account with us, include the email address or phone number you would have registered with.
How to reach us
The safest way is live chat in the Florence app, because it's linked to your account. If you don't have the app yet, use the chat on our website or email hello.ca@florenceapp.com. Always use the contact details on this page rather than ones someone else has sent you.
