Why test a flow?
Testing is an essential step to:
Visualize the conversation on a smartphone under real conditions, whether on WhatsApp or RCS/SMS.
Test URL redirects.
Who can run a test?
Anyone with access to the WAX account can run a test, on WhatsApp as well as on RCS or SMS.
⚙️ How do I test a flow?
Before running a test, the process differs depending on the channel:
On WhatsApp: templates are approved by META. Simply click "Submit" after creating or editing a template.
On RCS: no prior approval is needed ✅ You can test your flow directly, without waiting for template validation.
Once these prerequisites are met (templates approved on WhatsApp, no prerequisites on RCS), there are several ways to launch a test, regardless of the channel:
1. The "Test" button (bottom left)
This option lets you test the entire flow from the beginning, on WhatsApp as well as on RCS. You can:
Skip the wait delays ("Wait").
Skip the initial trigger (a checkbox lets you customize which elements are skipped during the test).
2. Testing from a specific message or template
To do this, simply click the three dots next to the message in question, then select "Start from this node." This option lets you start the test from a specific point, such as the second or third message of the flow, whether that message is a WhatsApp template or an RCS template.
💡 Good to know: Test specifics
On WhatsApp:
When you test a flow while skipping the wait delays ("Wait"), META will send the lightest messages first (e.g., those without images or videos). So you may receive the messages in a different order than planned.
✅ Solution: to avoid this disorder, it's recommended to shorten wait delays (e.g., changing a 30-minute "Wait" to 5 seconds) rather than removing them entirely.
On RCS:
Test-sending behavior is identical to WhatsApp: wait delays ("Wait") can be skipped, the initial trigger can be skipped (including trigger filters), and every conditional path in the flow is triggered during the test, exactly as with a WhatsApp test.
⚠️ An RCS test requires an RCS-compatible device to display correctly (Android with Google Messages / RCS enabled). Without a compatible device, the test won't display the way it would for your recipients.
