If your routes mix weekly, every-other-week, and monthly stops, then you know what happens: you move a stop in your Master route, only to find it landed at the very top of the daily route instead of where it should be.
Now, that’s no longer a problem as Smart Neighbors just got smarter.
What happened before?
When you moved a stop on on your Master route, Smart Neighbors tried to place that stop on each daily route between the same two neighbors it sat next to on Master instead of a fixed sequence number.
If one of those neighbors wasn’t on a route on a particular daily route, Smart Neighbors looked for the nearest neighbor it could find. But, if both neighbors were missing (often the case when weekly routes are mixed with every-other-week or monthly stops; “mixed-frequency stops”), it gave up and dropped the stop at the top of that day’s route.
What happens now?
When you move a stop on your Master Route, Master Sequence will take note of its neighbors. Then, on each daily route, it will look for those neighbors. If they’re not there, Master Sequence will keep searching further and further out until it finds its nearest neighbor on the route.
In the event it can’t find any stop to neighbor, Master Sequence then, and only then, will drop the stop at the top of the route.
Overall, Smart Neighbors will land stops in the right neighborhood far more reliable on routes with mixed-frequency stops.
