Hauler Hero categories route sequences in two buckets: your Daily Routes and your Master Routes.
In simple terms, Daily Route sequences are editable versions of a route for a specific day while Master Route sequences are editable templates of a route used to create future Daily Route sequences.
What is a Daily Route sequence?
A Daily Route sequence is a one-day copy built from a given route’s Master Route sequence. This is the route your drivers will follow on that given day.
Single-Day Use — It exists only for the scheduled date and does not affect other days.
Flexible and Editable — While Temporary Mode is on, you can add, reorder, and remove stops within a Daily Route sequence without affecting the Master Route sequence.
Real-World Adjustments — We’ve designed it to handle daily variations like last-minute customer requests or unexpected delays.
What is a Master Route sequence?
A Master Route sequence is the template Hauler Hero uses to create future runs of that route. Think of it as the default sequence your Daily Routes follow.
“Permanent” Template — Master Routes serves as the template for routes with recurring services.
Long-Term Planning — Changes made to the Master Route are “permanent” in that they apply to all future Daily Routes generated from it.
Optimized Foundation — Your Master Route should represent that route’s most efficient, standard route plan.
Push Master to Daily — Adjustments you make to your Master Sequence can be applied to all future or specific days.
Why does this separation of routes matter?
Our approach of building out your day-to-day routes (Daily Routes) from a master template (Master Routes) allows you to maintain a stable, optimized plan for your recurring services while still having the flexibility to adapt to day-to-day changes.
For example, if you need to add a one-time or on request stop for a customer, you can add it to the Daily Route sequence for the day it needs to happen without affecting future days of that route.
Conversely, if a customer needs to change their weekly pickups from Tuesday to Thursday, you would then update the Master Route sequence instead.
How do I update Daily Routes and Master Routes?
On the Route Manager’s Board and List views, any adjustments you make to your routes while Temporary Mode is on will be updates to your Daily routes.
If Temporary Mode is off, or an action specifically mentions “Master,” then the action will be updating your Master route instead.
That said, across the app, whenever you make changes to routes and stops, you’ll often see these 3 options:
Save Current Day — This is a one-time adjustment, essentially “apply my changes to this day’s version of the route.” This is also known as a “temporary” change; “for this day only, we’re doing (or not doing) this stop.”
Publish Master Sequence — This is a long-term adjustment, essentially “apply my changes to all future days this route runs.” This is also known as a “permanent” change; “moving forward, we’re doing (or not doing) this stop.”
Edit Master Sequence — This pulls up a draft page in the Master Sequence view so you can more explicitly adjust and review your changes before publishing your new Master Sequence.
