If I uninstall Atlas, will I continue to be charged?

Will I still be billed after removing the Atlas app?

Uninstalling Atlas from your Shopify store will cancel your subscription automatically. However, depending on when you uninstall, you may still see one final charge on your Shopify invoice. This is due to how Shopify's billing system works, not an Atlas-specific behavior.

In this article:

How Shopify billing cycles work

Atlas subscriptions are handled entirely through Shopify's built-in billing system. Understanding how Shopify processes app charges will help clarify why a final charge may appear after uninstalling.

  • Recurring charges begin the day you approve the app and repeat at the start of each new billing period.

  • Uninstalling the app stops future recurring charges but does not refund or cancel the current billing cycle. You are billed for the cycle that was already in progress.

  • Usage charges (like credits or add-ons) follow their own 30-day cycle, which may not align with your Shopify billing cycle. This means part of a single app charge might appear across two different Shopify invoices.

For a full breakdown of how Shopify handles third-party app charges, refer to the official Shopify documentation on app charges.

Why you might see a charge after uninstalling

You may still see an Atlas charge on your next Shopify invoice if:

  • You recently started a new billing cycle before uninstalling.

  • You incurred usage charges during the final 30-day window.

  • Shopify rolled the final charges into your next subscription invoice.

This does not mean you are being charged again. It is Shopify processing the charges from the billing period that was active at the time you uninstalled.

How to properly uninstall Atlas

To ensure your subscription is properly cancelled, always uninstall Atlas through your Shopify admin:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps

  2. Find Atlas: AI Store Builder in the list.

  3. Click Uninstall to remove the app.

This ensures Shopify's billing system registers the cancellation correctly and stops all future recurring charges.

Important: uninstalling the app means you lose access to all Atlas features immediately. Your Atlas theme will remain in your Shopify account as long as you don't delete it, and all your feature configurations are saved on our servers. What to do if you see an incorrect charge

If you believe a charge on your Shopify invoice doesn't look right:

  • For billing breakdowns and invoice details, contact Shopify Support directly. Since all app charges are processed through Shopify, they can provide a detailed breakdown of what was billed and why.

  • For refunds or credit requests, contact an agent through our Intercom web chat. If you're already in the chat, type "Talk to agent" to be directed to one. Or by emailing us at support@helloatlas.io.

For more details on refund and credit eligibility, refer to our Can I get a refund? article.
