Turnover Cleaning

Use this article when you have a Turnover Cleaning job in the Host App. It covers what the job is about, what to bring, what you should never skip, and what to do if something is not right.

Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies with a cleaning credential.

What is this job about?

A turnover cleaning resets a Landing home between members. You fully clean the home, wash the linens, and stage every room so it is spotless and ready for the next member to move in. See Landing Cleaning Standards.

Landing supports you in real time through the chat, so ask about anything that comes up, such as access, missing items, or tough pet hair and stains. Your turnover specialist may also ask you to submit a video walkthrough of the home once you finish. This is a critical job, so if you cannot make it, let Landing know as early as you can, because you cannot release it yourself inside 24 hours of the start time.

What do I need before I start?

Before you head to the home, check you have everything in this table. The times are a guide for each home size.

Credential

Cleaning credential

How long it takes

About 5 hours for a 1 bedroom home, 6 hours for a 2 bedroom home, 8 hours for a 3 bedroom home, and 9 hours for a 4 bedroom home

What to bring

Your cleaning kit, stain remover, a lint roller, pet stain and odor eliminator, a step stool, and your PEX Card. A carpet cleaning machine is recommended. See Building Your Host Cleaning Kit.

Access

Read the access instructions in your job before you arrive, and check whether the keys are at a third party location. See Getting In.

Don't skip these

Complete every task in the Host App as instructed, and upload the photos each task asks for. A job is not complete until every task is done. Pay particular attention to these:

  1.  "Check for Member Items" and "Inspect the Home for Major Issues." Check before you clean, never throw away anything a member left behind, and let Landing know what you find. Submit maintenance requests with the "Create Request" button. See Assessing a Landing Home and Items Left Behind by a Member.

  2.  "Speed Test the Wifi." This task is required, and skipping it can add a strike. See Landing WiFi.

  3. "Leave Member Keys on the Countertop" and "Return Necessary Access Key." If the home has more than one set of keys, leave one on the counter with the fobs and parking passes and return one to the KeyNest or KeyCafe. If there is only one set, return it. See Getting In.

  4.  "Trash Disposal." Empty the vacuum canister, then take all the trash to the community dumpster, even if the property has valet trash. See Trash Disposal at a Landing Property.

What if something is not right?

Linens are badly stained, soiled, or damaged. Treat the stains first. If they are still stained after washing, or are damaged, send photos to Landing through the chat.

There is no washer or dryer in the home or at the property. Let Landing know before you start the laundry.

The pet hair, stains, or grime are more than a standard turnover. Let Landing know through the chat. See Excessive Cleaning Issues and How to Treat Odors in a Landing Home.

Housewares are missing. If the housewares inventory form did not appear earlier in the job, fill out "Inventory the Housewares," and ask Landing in the chat if you have questions. See Houseware Inventory & Room Location.
