Overview
The GIS Menu provides control over the 3D map environment. Through this panel, you can swap background maps, toggle 3D buildings, adjust terrain elevation, enable underground view modes, and fine-tune individual GIS layer transparencies.
To open the GIS Menu:
Click the GIS Menu icon on the left Work Panel.
Environmental Controls
The top section of the GIS Menu contains settings that modify the overall map environment:
1. Base Map Selection
Base Map Dropdown: Select from various background styles (e.g., Satellite Imagery, Topographic, Streets). Choosing a different base map updates the background immediately.
Note: If your active project uses custom GIS base map data, this dropdown will be disabled.
2. Opacity Sliders
Global Opacity: Adjusts the visibility of everything on the map (base map, 3D tiles, BIM models, and custom layers). Slide to
0to make everything fully transparent, or1for fully opaque.Map Opacity: Specifically adjusts the transparency of loaded GIS map layers and base maps, without affecting BIM models or device markers.
3. Feature Toggles
Buildings: Toggle to turn on/off the 3D building outlines (powered by OpenStreetMap). Useful for adding urban context around your project site.
Elevation: Toggle the terrain relief. When turned off, the map renders flat. When turned on, hills, valleys, and slopes are modeled in 3D.
Google 3D Tiles: Toggles photorealistic 3D mesh layers from Google Maps. When enabled, it overlays the terrain with high-resolution 3D models of trees, buildings, and landscape features. Google 3D Tile offers coverage in major urban areas in 49 countries - 2D, 3D, and Street View Map Tiles - Google Maps Platform
Underground Navigation: Toggles the camera constraints.
Disabled: The camera is blocked from dipping below the terrain surface.
Enabled: The camera can pass below ground level, allowing you to inspect underground assets, foundation structures, tunnels, or subterranean sensors.
Imported Layers
The bottom section lists custom spatial datasets (BIM overlays, design surfaces, utilities, or point clouds) loaded specifically for your active project.
Each imported layer features:
Layer Title: The name of the GIS layer.
Visibility Toggle (Eye Icon):
Open Eye (Grey background): The layer is currently visible. Click to hide it.
Closed Eye (Orange background): The layer is currently hidden. Click to show it.
Opacity Slider: Adjust the transparency of this specific layer (defaults to 50% opacity on load, adjustable from 0% to 100%). Setting global opacity to 0% effectively hides all layers.
Warning Icon: If a layer fails to load, a yellow warning icon will appear. Hover over it to view the specific error message.
