Selection Inspector

This guide explains how to use the Selection Inspector to view detailed asset attributes, edit event filters, configure view states, and analyze device telemetry.

Overview

The Selection Inspector is a dynamic slide-out panel on the right side of the screen. Rather than showing static information, the inspector is contextual—it automatically shifts its interface and controls depending on what type of element you have selected in the 4D Viewer.

To toggle the Selection Inspector manually:

  • Click the Inspector icon at the top of the left Work Panel.

  • Note: Selecting any item on the map or lists will automatically open the inspector.


Contextual Modes

The Selection Inspector operates in contextual modes based on your selection:

1. Device (Instrument) Properties

When you select one or more telemetry sensors:

  • Current Datum Status: Displays a live date/time status pill for the active telemetry frame.

  • Workspan Details: Displays active workspan interval details and total journey distance summary when in Workspan Investigation Mode.

  • Metadata: Displays the sensor's name, type, site name, model, serial numbers, registration numbers, and installation notes.

  • Telemetry Charts: Displays interactive charts plotting historical measurements (e.g., pressure, temperature, water levels, tilt degrees) over the active timeline date range.

2. BIM Element Properties

When you select a structural BIM component (such as a concrete column, wall, or slab):

  • Model Context: Shows the parent BIM file name, level, category, and family names.

  • Attributes: Displays detailed parameters from the design model (e.g., structural type, material, volume, surface area, and engineering properties).

3. Task Properties

When you select a construction schedule bar in the bottom Gantt chart:

  • Schedule Dates: Shows the task description, planned Start and End dates, duration in days, and percentage of completion.

  • 4D Links: Lists all BIM components linked to this task, along with their Behavior Type (Construction, Demolition, or Temporary).

4. Alert Properties

When you select a row in the Alerts panel:

  • Trigger Details: Shows the alarm level (severity color), alert code, and exact time the trigger occurred.

  • Trigger Conditions: Displays the sensor channel and value that breached the preset threshold (e.g., "Piezometer PIEZ-02 recorded Pressure > 120 kPa").

5. Event Filter Editor

When you select an Event Filter from the menu:

  • Logical Builder: Configure targeted device types and write logical threshold conditions (e.g., Water Level > 10m AND Battery < 20%).

  • Save/Share: Set the filter to Private (only visible to you) or Shared (visible to the project team) and save it to the server.

6. View State Menu

When you select a View State from the menu:

  • Capture Rules: Check which options to include in the snapshot (Camera Position, BIM visibility, GIS layers, dates).

  • Project Default: Set this view state as the project-wide Project Default (administrator permission required).

  • Update Snapshot: Click Capture Current to overwrite this state with your current 3D viewport.
