Tasks are interactive activities that help you practise or demonstrate what you’ve learned. You may come across up to 20 different task types, from multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank to matching and file uploads.
They can be assessed or un-assessed and you can tell whether a task is assessed by checking the status icon in the top-right corner of the task.
How to find your tasks
You’ll come across tasks as you move through your course content, but you can also see them all in My tasks.
Go to Tasks in the left menu.
Choose Assessed or Non-assessed.
Select Go to page to view the task and what you need to do.
Tip: Assessed tasks may require you to submit by a certain date. Check out our guides on how to keep track of your due dates and how to add your due dates to your calendar.
Upload file tasks
Some courses include tasks which require you to upload your work in file form and then submit that for marking. You can recognise these tasks by the Add file button.
Learn more: Check out our guide on how to upload files.
Marking and feedback
Some tasks are automarked so you’ll see your results instantly while others are facilitator-marked.
When your facilitator’s feedback is ready, you’ll get a notification (bell icon beside your avatar). You can also subscribe to email or SMS alerts so you’ll be notified when feedback is available.
Learn more: Check our our guide on viewing your task feedback.
Resetting tasks
You can reset any non-assessed tasks if you’d like another go, but assessed tasks can only be reset by your learning provider, so you’ll need to contact them if you want to try again.
Learn more: Check out our guide to resetting non-assessed tasks for more information.
Task variations
Sometimes you might see that a task in your course is a “variation” (as shown in the highlighted blue box below the task name).
A variation is one version (of many) of a particular task. Some learners in your class will see the same task you do, others will see a different version.
Learn more: Check out our overview on task variations for more information.
Math tasks
If you're studying a course with maths, some tasks might give you the option to input mathematical or chemical formulae using a key pad math editor.
Learn more: Check out our guide to using the math editor for more details.
Problems with tasks
If you run into any issues with tasks, for example, technical problems or you know you won’t meet a deadline, contact your facilitator or learning provider for support.
