Congratulations on finishing your application! Your profile is now live, so families can find you and you can start getting in touch with them.
Here's what happens next, and what you'll need to do at each stage.
1. Your profile's live and ready for families
What happens: Families looking for a nanny in your area can now see your profile. You'll also see families who match your location and availability in your job search.
What you'll do:
Check your availability, postcode and search filters are up to date
Add a bit of personality to your profile so families get a feel for who you are
Need some ideas? Read Do you have any tips on how to edit my profile? and How does the job search work on my profile?
2. Message every family whose hours you can do
What happens: You message families who look like a good fit, and families can message you too. The more conversations you start, the sooner you're likely to find the right family.
What you'll do:
Aim to message every family whose hours you can do, and keep messaging new ones as they appear
Reply to families quickly, even if it's a no. The faster you respond, the more families we'll introduce you to
If a family goes quiet, send a friendly nudge with a few times you're free. Still nothing? Move on to the next family on your list
Families are busy juggling work and children, so a slow reply usually isn't personal. Find out more in:
3. Interview with the family
What happens: If a family likes the sound of you, they'll invite you to an interview. This could be a phone call, video call or a meeting in person, and it's a chance for you both to get to know each other.
What you'll do:
Read the family's profile and think about activities their children might enjoy
Prepare a few questions about the children, their routine and what the family's looking for
Plan your route and leave extra time so you arrive on time
Confirm the days, hours and start date
Send a message afterwards to thank them for their time
For more tips, read Top tips for your phone interview, Top tips for your in-person interview and our Interview safety guidelines.
4. Get paid for your trial
What happens: A trial is a one-off shift, usually a couple of hours, so you and the family can check you're a good fit before agreeing anything. It's booked through Koru Kids and you'll be paid for it once we've confirmed with the family that it went ahead. The family will be at home during the trial.
What you'll do:
Add your bank details before the trial so we can pay you
Ask the family what they'd like you to do, whether that's a play date or a run-through of their usual routine
Test your commute and arrive on time
Message the family afterwards, whatever you decide
You don't need to log your trial as a shift in the app. See Top tips for trials for more.
5. Accept your job offer
What happens: When the family wants to hire you, they'll select ‘job offer’ in the chat.. Once you accept, this starts your contract, training, and DBS check. Most checks take about 10 days.
What you'll do:
Accept the offer if you're happy to go ahead
Follow the DBS and training instructions we send you (as soon as you can - both should be completed by the end of your first week of work)x
Review and sign your contract
If you've decided not to go ahead, let the family know as soon as possible
Whether you can start before your DBS check is back is up to the family. Read Can I start working before my DBS check has completed? to find out more.
