Adding a YouTube or Vimeo Livestream Link to an Essential Events Page
Updated over a week ago

Looking to add a YouTube or Vimeo link to your upcoming event to share with your participants (online, or in person)? Not sure which URL to add to your Essential Events page – or even where to find it?

Not to worry! We’ve created a simple guide on where you can find that URL you need – and how to add it directly to your Essential Events page so it’ll display once your event has gone “live”!

Having trouble getting your video to display? Skip to the end of this article for common troubleshooting scenarios.

For YouTube

First, you’ll want to log into your Fundraising Pages account and go to the Essential Events page for your upcoming event, where you can see your “Event Overview” and have that open (this will make the final steps a little bit easier). You’ll also want to have open (in a new tab or window) the YouTube video you would like to use for your Essential Event.

In the tab that you have YouTube open, you’ll want to click on the “Share” button underneath the YouTube Video.

Then, you should see a pop-up appear, with several different sharing options available and the URL for your video.

Next to the URL, click on the blue “copy” text in order to copy that link to your clipboard.

Once you have copied that link, you’ll want to navigate over to that window or tab where you have your Essential Events page open in your Fundraising Pages account.

Once in the Event Overview, you’ll want to click on the "Livestream" tab.

Once the Livestream tab has loaded, you should see a box titled "Livestream Video URL."

In that Livestream Video URL field, paste (Control +V for PCs, Command +V for Macs) that YouTube link that you just copied.

Not using a “live” video for your event, but want to use a static video? Not to worry – you'd paste the link for that video here as well. For more information on the difference between livestream videos and static videos in your Events pages, please click here.

For Vimeo

First, you’ll want to log into your Fundraising Pages account and go to the Essential Events page for your upcoming event (where you can see your “Event Overview” and have that open (this will make the final steps a little bit easier). You’ll also want to have open (in a new tab or window) the Vimeo video you would like to use for your Essential Event.

In the tab where you have Vimeo open, you’ll want to click on the “share” button towards the top right of the video (it should look like a paper airplane icon).

Then, you should see a pop-up appear, with several different sharing options available.

You will want to select the “Embed” option, and copy (Control + C for PCs, Command +C for Macs) the entire code listed.

Next, open the “Notes” or another word application on your computer, and paste (Control +V for PCs, Command +V for Macs) that code directly into the application.

In this code, you should see multiple sections of code that start with https://....

You are going to want to select and copy the second link that begins with https:// that is listed within that code.

(The example above shows you which section of that code you’ll need to copy, in the green box.)

Once you have copied that link, you’ll want to navigate back over to that window or tab where you have your Essential Events page open to “Event Overview” in your Fundraising Pages account.

Once in the Event Overview, you’ll want to click on the "Livestream" tab.

Once the Livestream tab has loaded, you should see a box titled "Livestream Video URL."

In that Livestream Video URL field, paste (Control +V for PCs, Command +V for Macs) that Vimeo link that you just copied.

Not using a “live” video for your event, but want to use a static video? Not to worry – you'd paste the link for that video here as well. For more information on the difference between livestream videos and static videos in your Essential Events pages, please click here.

Why is my video still not displaying properly?

Still having issues getting your video to display properly in your Livestream Dashboard?

Here are some of the most common reasons your link may not be working - and be sure to double-check your URL to make sure you don't run into any of these issues!

  • The URL isn't a complete, valid URL.

  • The URL has an unintended typo.

  • The URL links to a video that is listed as "private."

  • The URL doesn't link to a YouTube or Vimeo video.

  • The URL doesn't have "embedding" enabled for your video.
