A Pre-save Step lets fans connect their DSP account once so future releases automatically drop into their library. Openstage currently supports “forever pre-saves” for Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer.
Artists do not need releases in the Music Catalog to collect pre-saves. The Music Catalog is only required when sending Pre-save Broadcasts.
🟢 Top tip: “Forever pre-saves” work best when fans get something immediately in return. Early audio, exclusive content, or automated music delivery usually increases conversion.
Set up a Pre-save Step
Before collecting pre-saves, add DSP links to the artist profile.
Go to Artist Settings.
Add Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer profile links.
Save the Artist Settings changes.
Add a Pre-save Step to the Landing Page journey.
Open the Landing Page.
Click the + icon between journey steps.
Select Pre-save Step.
Toggle supported DSPs on or off.
Save the Landing Page.
Fans can connect:
Spotify
Apple Music
Deezer
Reward fans for pre-saving
Pre-save campaigns usually perform better when fans receive something immediately after connecting their DSP.
Add a sneak preview
Offer fans early access to unreleased music/ a ‘first-listen’
Add an Audio Player Step after the Pre-save Step.
Upload the preview audio.
Make the Pre-save Step mandatory if required.
A common fan journey looks like:
Welcome Step → Pre-save Step → Audio Player Step → Thanks Step
OR
Welcome Step → Pre-save Step → Thanks Step (with audio or video)
Trigger automated music delivery
Fans who complete a Pre-save Step receive the presave_welcome tag automatically.
Artists can use the presave_welcome tag to trigger automated Broadcasts that deliver music directly into fan libraries.

Artists can manually add links for DSPs beyond Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer.
Open the Pre-save Step settings.
