Earn, track, and redeem rewards (Patient App)

Learn how to earn rewards through visits and purchases, track your progress, and redeem unlocked offers in the Patient App.

Overview

Your practice’s Patient App includes a Rewards program that lets you earn offers by checking in for appointments, making in-app purchases, and signing up or referring friends. A live progress tracker shows how close you are to your next reward, and unlocked rewards can be redeemed in-app, in-office, or converted into RepeatCash when your practice enables it.

This article is for patients using the Patient App. Practice owners configure rewards in the Admin Panel under Rewards in the MedCommerce Engine section.

Staff note: Need to redeem a reward on behalf of a patient? See Redeem on behalf of a user.

Before You Start

  • Download and sign in to your practice’s Patient App.

  • Rewards are set by your practice — offer types, unlock milestones, and eligible treatments vary by location.

  • Progress combines check-ins at the practice and in-app purchases toward visit-based rewards.

  • RepeatCash conversion is optional per reward. Your practice controls whether it is available and the dollar value.

Why It Matters

Rewards give you tangible value for staying engaged with your practice:

  • Track progress in real time so you always know how many visits or dollars remain until your next unlock.

  • Choose how to use unlocked rewards — redeem the offer directly or bank it as RepeatCash for flexible spending.

  • Earn through everyday actions like checking in after an appointment or buying services in the app.

How It Works

How you earn progress toward visit rewards.

  • Check in at your practice after an appointment. Each check-in counts as one visit and adds your practice’s visit value toward your progress bar.

  • Make in-app purchases. Purchase amounts count toward the same dollar threshold as check-ins.

  • Sign up for the app. New patients may receive a sign-up reward when they create an account.

  • Get referred by a friend. Referred patients may unlock a welcome offer when they sign up through a referral link.

Progress tracker: Your Rewards screen shows live progress at the top, visit count and spend remaining until your next reward unlocks. You can also see reward progress from your Home screen when your practice surfaces it there.

Unlocking and redeeming: When you hit the threshold, the reward moves to your unlocked list. Redeem by accepting the offer in the app, scanning in-office if your practice supports it, or converting to RepeatCash when enabled.

RepeatCash: If your practice enabled conversion on a reward, you can bank the dollar value instead of redeeming the specific offer. See Convert rewards into RepeatCash (Patient App).

Refer a friend: Share your practice’s welcome offer from the Rewards screen. At this time, the referring patient can also earn a reward. For more information about Referral Rewards, see Introducing Referral Rewards.

Scan in store: Redeem in-office by opening the scanner from Home, Account, or the Rewards screen, depending on what your practice enabled.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Track reward progress

  1. Open the Patient App.

  2. Go to Rewards from the bottom navigation, or check the rewards widget on your Home screen if shown.

  3. Review the progress tracker at the top — it shows visits completed and spend remaining until your next reward unlocks.

Redeem an unlocked reward in the app

  1. Open Rewards.

  2. Tap an unlocked reward.

  3. Follow the prompts to redeem the offer toward an eligible in-app purchase or service.

  4. Complete checkout if the reward applies to a cart purchase.

Redeem in-office with Scan

  1. Open the Patient App during your visit.

  2. Open the scanner from Home, Account, or Rewards.

  3. Show the scan screen to a team member at the front desk to apply your reward.

Convert an unlocked reward to RepeatCash

  1. Open Rewards.

  2. Tap an unlocked reward that shows Bank for $XX in RepeatCash.

  3. Confirm conversion. The balance moves to your Wallet.

For full RepeatCash rules and checkout steps, see Convert rewards into RepeatCash (Patient App).

Refer a friend

  1. Open Rewards.

  2. Tap Refer a friend (or the equivalent share action your practice enabled).

  3. Send the welcome offer link to your friend.

  4. When your friend signs up through the link, they unlock the referred welcome offer.

Best Practices and Pro Tips

  • Check Rewards after every visit. Progress updates after check-ins and purchases — a quick glance keeps you oriented toward your next unlock.

  • Compare redeem vs. RepeatCash before tapping — if you want the specific service, redeem directly; if you want flexibility, bank RepeatCash.

  • Use in-app purchases strategically. Purchases count toward visit milestones the same way check-ins do.

  • Ask the front desk if scan redemption is available for in-office rewards.

Common Mistakes and FAQs

Q: Why didn’t my check-in move my progress bar?

A: Check-ins apply after your practice records the visit. If progress looks wrong, confirm you checked in through the app and contact the front desk.

Q: Do in-app purchases and check-ins count the same way?

A: Both count toward your next visit reward. Check-ins add a visit plus your practice’s visit value; purchases add their dollar amount to the same progress bar.

Q: Can I redeem a reward in-office and in the app?

A: It depends on the reward. In-app rewards redeem through the app; in-office rewards are redeemed with a team member, often via the scan flow.

Q: What is RepeatCash?

A: RepeatCash is stored dollar value in your Wallet. When your practice enables it on a reward, you can convert an unlocked reward into RepeatCash and apply it toward eligible in-app purchases.

Q: Where do I see upcoming rewards?

A: Your Rewards screen shows locked upcoming rewards and teasers for what unlocks next, so you always know what you are working toward.
