Adding paychecks to ServerLife can help you maintain a more complete record of your income.
A paycheck entry can include:
Basic: Tips, hours and notes.
Premium: Separate cash and credit card tips, hourly wages, an associated job and photos.
The fields available for paycheck entries are more limited than those available for shifts.
How to add a paycheck
Open the Calendar.
Select the date you received the paycheck.
Tap the green + button in the bottom-right corner.
Select Paycheck.
Enter the paycheck information.
Choose the associated job, if applicable (Premium).
Tap Save Paycheck.
Avoid counting your earnings twice
Before adding a paycheck, consider what you have already recorded with your individual shifts. Recording earnings with each shift and entering the same earnings again as a paycheck will cause them to be counted twice.
There are two ways you can choose to record your earnings.
Record income when you receive it
Record only the money you receive after each shift, such as cash tips. When your paycheck arrives, record the amount you receive without including earnings you’ve already entered.
Enter 0 hours on the paycheck if you already recorded those hours with your shifts. If you use this method, avoid automatically including hourly wages in your shift earnings and then recording them again with your paycheck.
This method helps you see when money becomes available, but it may not show your full earnings for each shift.
Record all earnings with each shift
Record your hourly wages and tips with the shift when you earned them, including amounts that will be paid in a future paycheck.
Those earnings are already included in your totals, so enter $0 in earnings and 0 hours if you add a paycheck entry for reference. You can add notes or, with Premium, attach a photo.
This method helps you see what you earned during each workday. Hourly wages are calculated before taxes and other payroll deductions, so your recorded earnings may differ from the amount you receive.
How to record taxes and other deductions
ServerLife does not automatically calculate paycheck taxes or other deductions. With Premium, you can record taxes and other amounts withheld as expenses if you want to keep a separate record of them.
If you want those expenses deducted from your take-home earnings, make sure they haven’t already been accounted for. If you entered the amount you received after deductions, subtracting them again would count them twice.
