ServerLife does not calculate your taxes or determine how much you owe. With Premium, you can record taxes withheld and other paycheck deductions as expenses.
How to track taxes in ServerLife
Create an expense category called Taxes, or use a name that identifies the deduction you want to record. Add the amount withheld from your paycheck to that category. You can record taxes and other deductions separately.
For instructions, see How to track work expenses.
If you want the expense to reduce your take-home earnings, turn on the option to deduct it. Recording an amount this way does not determine whether it is tax-deductible or change what you owe when filing your taxes.
Avoid counting your earnings twice
How you record paycheck deductions depends on how you track your earnings.
If you record all earnings with your shifts:
Your hourly wages, tips and other recorded earnings are already included in your totals. Enter $0 in earnings and 0 hours if you add a paycheck entry for reference.
Record taxes and other deductions separately as expenses if you want them subtracted from your take-home earnings.
If you record income when you receive it
Enter only paycheck earnings you haven’t already recorded with your shifts. Enter 0 hours if those hours are already included in your shift entries.
If you enter earnings before deductions, you can record the deductions as expenses and subtract them from your take-home earnings.
If you enter the amount received after deductions, don’t subtract those deductions again. You can keep a separate expense record with the option to deduct it turned off.
