The BRS Zone Draw Competition allows players to sign up for a competition, and select a time zone for play, with a random draw carried out to allocate participating players into select time zones. With the zone draw competition, draws are typically done randomly, but can also be based on handicap indexes.
When setting up a zone draw competition, players can sign up for a set time zone. The draw will then be completed, and the players will be assigned a specific tee time within their selected time zone. When setting up your competition in BRS, this will automatically create an event in Golf Genius TM. Similarly, when players sign up on BRS, they will automatically be populated into the event in Golf Genius TM.
In this article, we will discuss setting up your competition in BRS and managing the event in Golf Genius TM.
BRS Zone Draw Competition Set Up:
When running a Zone Draw Competition in BRS, your first step will be to create the competition in BRS. To do this, follow these directions:
In BRS, navigate to the Tools option from the Menu.
Then go to Member Competitions.
Select "Zone Draw" from the "Competition Type" drop-down.
You will then be able to set the name, date, and other settings for this competition.
After completing the set up, click "Save."
For more information about creating a zone draw competition within BRS, please contact BRS Support.
Managing the Zone Draw Competition in Golf Genius:
Once the competition has been created on BRS, this will automatically create an event with the appropriate rounds in the Golf Genius Customer Center. The event will be placed into the Events, Leagues, and Trips category by default (as shown below). Note: You can then drag and drop the event to the relevant category (i.e., Mens, Ladies, Seniors, etc.) if needed.
Creating a Tournament in Golf Genius:
After making the necessary adjustment in the Customer Center, you will want to create your tournaments within the event. To create your tournament, follow these directions:
Navigate to and open the Event from the Customer Center.
Go to Rounds > Tournaments > Add New Tournament.
Enter the tournament information (i.e., Name, format, competition, etc.). For more information on creating tournaments, Click Here.
Click "Save," and the tournament will be created.
BRS Player Registration:
Players can sign up for the competition directly on BRS and select their preferred zone (as shown below).
The BRS tee sheet will highlight that this is a drawn competition and that you must complete the draw within Golf Genius (as shown below).
As players register, you can see a list of entrants within BRS (as shown below).
Further, any registered player to the zone dw in BRS will automatically pull through into the Golf Genius TM round roster and marked as confirmed (as shown below).
Additionally, a playing division for the draw time will be created and played added to the proper division (as shown below). Note: The Playing divisions can be seen by going to Round > Choose Playing Divisions.
To view the players in each division, go to Round > Round Divisions/Flights/Teams. Here you will see that the BRS event divisions have been created in Golf Genius TM with matching players in each zone (division) (as shown below).
Creating Pairings in Golf Genius:
To complete the zone draw, you will need to create pairings. To create your pairings, follow these directions:
Go to Rounds > Create New Pairings.
Select the pairings method. For more details on the available pairing options, Click Here.
If other divisions (zones) use the same pairing method, select the other division to schedule using the same settings (as shown below).
Click "Next" or "Save" (on the bottom right).
Review the Scheduler and More Scheduling Options. For Details about More Scheduling options, Click Here.
Click "Continue," and the pairing will then be generated. Each division (zone) will have an associated letter (i.e., A, B, C) for easy recognition on the tee sheet (as shown below).
Edit the pairings to set the course and tee. For complete details on editing pairings, Click Here.
When the pairings have been created and course and tee set, there is an option at the bottom of the screen to send pairings. Toggle this option to "Yes" (as shown below).
When enabled and the pairings are saved, they will be sent to and populate the tee sheet in BRS (as shown below).
Click "Save Pairings."
Once the draw has been completed, the competition will continue to operate like a standard competition, where players can enter into a specific tee time on BRS, which will then populate them into the event on Golf Genius TM.
Entering Scores:
Players can then enter their scores using the Clubs Score Input Terminal or the BRS Golf Scoring App.
