Doubles Golf Integration

Updated over 2 months ago

This feature is only available with the following products:

(If you would like this feature enabled, please contact support.)

If you run Double Golf Leagues at your facility, the Doubles Golf Integration allows you to create and score events and leagues for the Doubles Golf League. With this integration, you will be able to:

  • Registering players and teams to the Doubles Golf League

  • Pull Ratings

  • Post scores to the Doubles Golf League

This feature will only work when the following conditions are met:

  • 2-Person Teams created under the All Golfers division

  • Tournaments have a Scramble format

In this article, we will cover enabling double golf for an event/league, setup, Double Golf registration, course setup, and scoring.

Enable Double Golf Integration for an Event/League

When creating an event/league participating in the Double Golf League, the Doubles Golf Integration will need to be enabled for that event/league. To enable the double golf integration, follow these directions:

  1. Contact support to enable the integration if you have not already done so.

  2. Create an Event/League.

  3. Within the event/league, go to Event/League > Event/League Profile > General Settings.

  4. In the section "Double Golf Integration," enter the following:

    1. Check the box to "Enable Double Golf Integration."

    2. Enter the course "Doubles Golf Course ID" number. Note: The ID will be verified immediately, and the course name will be displayed.

    3. Choose the Double Golf Format for Stroke Allocations (i.e., Match Play or Medal Play) (as shown below). Note: Details for stroke allocation can be seen below.

  5. Click "Save."

Double Golf Stoke Allocation

Based on the option selected, the strokes will be allocated as follows:

Event Setup

You will want to do the following within your event (Note: This is the minimum required to run this event/league):

  • Add Players to your Event/League Roster. (Note: Ensure your golfers have the following information in their Profile to be submitted to Double Golf League: First Name, Last Name, Email, Date of Birth, and Gender.)

  • Create Teams (Note: Teams must be in the All Golfers Divisions with only 2 players per team.)

  • Create Tournaments (Note: Tournaments must be Set to Teams and in a Scramble Format.)

Registering Double Golf Teams

When utilizing the Double Golf Integration, the teams must be registered with the Double Golf League. To Register your teams with the Double Golf League, follow these directions:

  1. Go to Golfers > Register Teams to Double Golf (as shown below).

  2. Verify all the teams are displayed.

  3. By default, when entering the registration page, we will automatically check all teams not registered into Doubles Golf. Note: For teams that are already registered, we will disable the checkbox so duplicates are not submitted.

  4. Click "Register Teams," and the teams will be registered for Doubles Golf.

  5. The status column will be updated with "Registered" for teams that have been successfully registered.

Received Doubles Golf Players/Team Information

When players are successfully registered with Doubles Golf, TM will receive a Doubles Golf User ID for each player. This value will be stored in a Doubles Golf User ID custom field displayed in the player profile (as shown below).

In addition to the Double Golf User ID, a player's Doubles Rating and Stroke Allocation, based on the selected stroke allocation method will also be stored in the roster as a custom field (as shown below).

To ensure that the Stoke Allocation inserted into Golf Genius as the Handicap Index will be used as a Playing Handicap, the Stroke Allocation will be stored as a Handicap Index with an “H” at the end. The "H" ensure that the Handicap Index will not be used to calculate a Playing Handicap, instead it will be used as the Playing Handicap.

When teams are registered to Double Golf, we will not change the golfer's Handicap Index if:

  • No stroke allocation is being sent for a specific player from Double Golf. When this occurs, if there is a Handicap Index in the Roster for a player, this H.I. will not be changed.

  • The player’s Handicap Index in the Golf Genius Roster is already tagged as “H”. When this occurs, the correct Handicap Index might not be received from Double Golf.

Note: In cases where a player on a team has already been assigned a Doubles Rating and Doubles Stroke Allocation (i.e., the HI is already marked with “H”), the manager can, if necessary, manually reset the player's Handicap Index field in the roster (i.e., remove the H) and then rerun the Doubles Golf Registration action. This will cause the Doubles Rating and Stroke Allocation to be refreshed as a result of the integration with Doubles.

Editing Registered Teams

You can edit teams registered to the Double Golf League for any reason. A couple of notes:

  • If you edit the membership of a registered team, we will consider it unregistered. You will need to re-register the team after it has been updated by reruning the Double Golf Registration action.

  • If a player on a team cancels and you remove the canceled player and add a replacement player, you will need to make all the changes in TM. Add a new player to the event/league, remove the canceled player from the team, and add the new player to the team. Then, you can register the new team to Doubles Golf from the register teams page.

Assigning Double Golf ID to Course Details

To post scores to the Double Golf League, your course needs to have the Double Golf Course ID entered in the Course Details. To assign a course your Double Golf Course ID, follow these directions:

  1. Within the Event/League, go to Event/League > Course Details.

  2. Click "Edit" for the course that needs the ID assigned.

  3. In the popup, click "Edit this Course."

  4. Enter the course ID in the "Double Golf Course ID" field (as shown below).

  5. Click elsewhere on the screen. The Course ID will be verified immediately, and the course name will be displayed.

  6. Click "Save."

Automatic Score Posting to Double Golf

Doubles Golf Scores will automatically post to Doubles Golf each day at 11:00 PM local time if the following conditions are met:

  • Doubles Golf Integration is enabled in the Event/League Profile

  • The round was scheduled for the current day

  • The round has scores (not random scores)

  • The round is in any of the following states: In Progress, Completed

After scores are finalized, an email notification will be sent to the event/league managers in the following order:

  • Communication Officer

  • The first Event/League manager listed (if the Communication Officer is not set)

  • The first Customer manager listed (if no Event/League managers)

If all team scores are successfully posted, the auto-score posting summary email message will reflect this status.

While posting scores, there is a possibility that a team’s scores are not valid in Doubles Golf’s system. Doubles Golf will provide an error when one of the following conditions is not fulfilled:

  • The team is not pre-registered in Doubles Golf

  • Double Score User ID is not saved in the Player Profile

  • Doubles Golf Course ID is not entered in Course Details for the course being played that round

  • Score outside of Doubles Golf limits

  • Doubles Golf Internal Server Error

If Doubles Golf returns any errors during the automatic score posting, we will notify the managers by emailing them the list of errors encountered during the process. This way, managers can track issues, solve conflicts, and manually re-post scores to Doubles Golf if necessary (outlined below).

Score Posting to Double Golf - Posting Results

After completing the score posting job (manually or automatically), you can view the Score Posting Results for the current round by going to Rounds (Select the appropriate round if necessary) > See Posting Results (Next to Post Scores to Doubles Golf) (as shown below).

The score posting results report will contain the following information for each score posted:

  • Team Name

  • Course & Tee Name

  • Score

  • Status

Manually Posting Scores to Double Golf

Note: Double Golf events will be played as a scramble tournament, so set up your tournament format to Scramble.

After entering scores using manual score entry or live scoring, you can post scores to the Double Golf League by going to Rounds > Post Scores to Doubles Golf (as shown below).

Note: When no scores are entered in the round, the Post Scores to Doubles Golf link will be disabled. The Post Scores to Doubles Golf link is enabled when a round has scores.

Score posting will be disabled for teams when one of the following conditions is met:

  • The team was not registered in Doubles Golf

  • The Doubles Golf Course ID is not set for the course that the team is playing on

To Post scores to Double Golf, follow these directions:

  1. Go to Rounds > Post Scores to Double Golf.

  2. By default, all teams are selected. Click "Post Scores" to send scores to Doubles Golf (as shown below).

  3. After clicking "Post Score," and scores are sent for the selected teams, the "Status" column will display the status of the submitted scores to Doubles Golf League (as shown below).

  1. Go to Rounds > Enter Scores.

  2. Update the scores for the team(s).

  3. Click "Done Entering Scores."

  4. Go to Rounds > Post Scores to Double Golf.

  5. Select only the teams whose scores need to be updated.

  6. Click "Post Scores."

Retrieving Updated Team Ratings

When scores are posted in Double Golf, the system automatically recalculates and updates team ratings, which may result in changes. These updated ratings are then seamlessly imported into individual player profiles, eliminating any manual work for you.

Error Messages When Registering Teams or Posting Scores

It is possible to receive an error message when registering players for the Doubles Golf League or posting scores to the Doubles Golf League. If you receive an error, attempt the action again. If it is unsuccessful, wait half an hour to an hour and try the action again. If the action is still unsuccessful, please get in touch with support for additional assistance.
