Here's how booking works in the Walkies Journal app, and which way to book for what you need. Every booking goes to your pet sitter as a request: you're told when they accept or decline it.
Which way should I book?
One visit, like a walk: choose the service, a date and a time. See How do I book an appointment?
The same service on several days: pick each date on the calendar. See How do I book several dates at once?
Boarding, an overnight stay, home sitting or daycare: choose the first and last day, then a start and end time. See How do I book a stay?
An arrival window, like Morning: when your pet sitter uses windows, you choose one instead of a time. See How do I book an arrival window?
A regular, repeating booking: clients can't set these up in the app. Ask your pet sitter, who can.
Requested and confirmed
Requested: you've sent it, and your pet sitter hasn't accepted it yet. It's under Requests on the Appts tab.
Confirmed: your pet sitter accepted it. It's in Day, Calendar and All.
A declined request disappears from your lists, and you're notified.
Paying when you book
Some pet sitters ask you to pay when you book. Your booking then shows a tip choice and a payment method, and the button reads Pay & request. Your card is only authorised: you're charged when your pet sitter accepts, and the hold is released if they decline.
Why can't I book?
No Book appointment card or Book button: your pet sitter hasn't turned on booking in the app. Message them instead.
No services: your pet sitter hasn't added any services you can book.
Greyed-out dates or No available times: your pet sitter is busy or not working then. Try another date.
Price updated: your pet sitter changed their prices while you were booking. Check the new total and send it again.
Service no longer available: a service you chose was changed or removed. Start a new booking.
Booking unavailable: your pet sitter needs to finish setting up their business. Let them know.
Changing or cancelling
You can't change a booking in the app. Message your pet sitter to change it, or cancel it yourself if they allow it. See How do I cancel an appointment?
