⚡️ Quick Answer
Everything in PORTAL revolves around five content types. Each one serves a different purpose — from starting a conversation to saving one for later. Understanding the difference helps you find the right tool for the moment.
✅ Step-by-Step
Type | What it is | Where it lives |
Post | A standalone message shared with the community, with text, media, or a link to an OASIS room. | OPEN PORTAL, EXPLORE feed or the Author's MY-PORTAL (the profile of the Author) |
Forum Post | A titled thread created within a GROUP’s FORUM, designed for focused group discussion. | FORUM, within a GROUP |
Reply | A response to a post, forum thread, or another reply. Can branch into sub-threads up to four levels deep. | Beneath any post or forum thread |
Quote | A reply that embeds another member’s post in a highlighted block, so the context is always visible. | OPEN PORTAL, EXPLORE feed or the Author's MY-PORTAL (the profile of the Author) |
Bookmark | A private list of any saved posts or threads so you can find it again later from the BOOKMARKS section. | BOOKMARKS (your personal library) |
📝 Post Types in Detail
Post Your voice in the community feed. • Posts are the primary way members share thoughts, updates, and ideas with the broader community via MY-POTAL (which also appears in OPEN PORTAL and EXPLORE). • EXPLORE shows posts from members across the platform. MY-PORTAL shows only your own posts and is your personal profile space. OPEN-PORTAL shows a selective feed based on your profile details and preferences, friends, and joined Groups. • A post can include text, media, a tag to a GROUP, or a direct link to a room inside OASIS. • Any member can reply to, quote, or bookmark a post. • Post visibility follow your PORTAL Privacy settings. |
Forum Post A focused thread for group conversation.
• Forum posts are titled threads created within a specific GROUP’s forum, giving group members a structured space to discuss a topic in depth. • Each forum post belongs to a THREAD inside a FORUM within that group (e.g., the thread “Defining my Personal Vision” inside “Life-Synergy Mastermind”). • Forum posts support the same full reply, sub-thread, quote, and bookmark behavior as regular posts. • The thread title and group name are displayed beneath the post header so members always know where the conversation is taking place. • Interactive for GROUP members only, visible to Everyone: When you join a GROUP, you automatically gain access to posting in its forum and group direct message. If you are not a Group Member (of a Public Group), you can view the activity, but cannot post until you Join. |
Reply Keep the conversation going — on the right thread.
• Replies are responses to a post, forum thread, or another reply. They are what allows the conversation to continue and encourage deep and thoughtful conversation. • Replying to the original post adds a top-level comment. Replying to a specific comment creates a nested sub-thread (branch) connected to that comment. • Branches can go up to four levels deep. At the limit, new replies automatically create a new top level thread. • A reply automatically tags the person you’re responding to so they’re notified. You can remove this mention before hitting send if you wish. • See Threads & Sub-Threads for a full guide to reply behavior. |
Quote Start a new conversation with full context. • A quote embeds another member’s post or comment in a highlighted block, keeping the context visible alongside your response as a post. • The quoted content appears below your message, clearly distinguished from your own text.• Quoting creates a new post that is added to your My-PORTAL. It does not add your reply inside the quoted member’s thread. • Any post or comment in PORTAL — including inside sub-threads — can be quoted. |
🔖 Bookmark Save it for later — privately. • Bookmarking saves any post, forum thread, or comment to your personal BOOKMARKS section so you can find it again without scrolling. • Bookmarks are private — only you can see what you’ve saved. No one else is notified when you bookmark their content. • Access all your saved content from the BOOKMARKS icon next to the 'Search Bar' in PORTAL • Bookmarks persist until you remove them — they are not affected by the original post being edited or replied to. • Use bookmarks to track conversations you want to return to, posts with useful resources, or threads you’re following closely. |
🔗 How They Connect
These five content types aren’t isolated — they layer on top of each other to form the full conversation experience in PORTAL:
A Post or Forum Post starts a thread.
Replies build the conversation beneath it, branching into sub-threads as needed (see
Quotes bring context into a brand new post so any reader can follow along.
Bookmarks let any member quietly save anything worth revisiting, without interrupting the thread.
Together they give every member the flexibility to start broad conversations, dive into focused group discussions, respond with precision, and keep track of what matters to them.
Reply Composer Options
Whether you’re replying to the original post or a specific comment, the reply composer gives you a few options beyond just typing text:
Option | What it does |
Send | Posts your message. |
Attach a File | Uploads a file and shares it within the thread. |
Tag a Group | Mentions a WatersAbove™ GROUP, and provide a direct link to it's Information Card |
Tag an OASIS Room | Links directly to a specific VISTA inside OASIS (for example, The Sauna), so readers can jump straight into that virtual space from the post. |
