Adding Friends & Blocking Members

Learn how to add friends and block members

Updated over 3 weeks ago

⚡️ Quick Answer
To help manage who has access to you, there are a couple of settings you can apply to make sure certain people have access to you (or not). Adding friends gives the most access, blocking members gives the least.

🔑 Setup for Success

  • All parties must have an active Membership with THE COLLECTIVE by WatersAbove™

All actions are dependent on the personal settings of both parties. In other words, some actions may not be available to you IF the other member has disabled certain access permissions.

✅ Step-by-Step
💻 Web

To Add a Friend from their Profile

  1. Open PORTAL

  2. Go to the profile of another Member (this can be done from numerous places within PORTAL)

  3. Click 'Add Friend' (if available)

  4. If not visible from the Button, check behind the 3-dot menu to the left. If not available there, this user's personal settings means you cannot send them a Friend Request.

📖 Glossary
Friend—By sending a friend request and accepting friend requests, you allow those members to view your profile (if it's Private), send Direct Messages (if only allowing DMs from Friends-only), and have that member's posts appear in MY-PORTAL.

Blocked—Inside PORTAL you have the ability to block another member. This will prevent that member from sending a friend requests, viewing each other's profiles or public posts. You can no longer send direct messages.
