⚡️ Quick Answer
Inside a vista with open discussion rooms, you can start your own room or join one that's already in session. Drag your avatar or click on a room, grant camera and mic permissions, and hit Join Now. Empty rooms let you start fresh; rooms with people in them let you join the conversation already underway.
🔑 Setup for Success
You're already inside a vista with discussion rooms. See the separate tutorial on navigating to a vista if you're not there yet. Learn more HERE
Your device permissions are ready. Each time you join a room, you'll be asked for camera and microphone access. A separate tutorial covers granting these in your browser and sharing them is covered HERE
Expect to grant permissions every time. Permissions aren't remembered between rooms — you'll share them again each time you join a new discussion room.
✅ Step-by-Step
Find available and in-session rooms
The menu at the top shows the available discussion rooms and flags any discussion currently in session. Open rooms with no one in them mean no discussion has started yet.
Start a new discussion room
Drag your avatar onto an open room or simply click it. You'll be asked to name the room. When you join, you'll be prompted for camera and microphone permissions — once those are configured, hit Join Now to enter your voice and video room.
Join a room already in session
From the home screen or the biomes list, you can see where people are gathered — follow the number to find a room that's already started. Drag your avatar or click it, and you'll be prompted to Join Discussion. Grant permissions, and you're in.
Break out into smaller rooms
If a group discussion gets crowded and you want to split off, you can leave and join a different room. As long as at least one member stays behind, the original room stays active — so you can always come back to it.
➡️ What Happens Next?
Once you're inside a room, you're in a live voice and video space. There's a separate tutorial covering all the features available inside a discussion room — how to navigate, switch views, manage other members, and use your mic and camera controls. Learn more HERE. Remember that moving to a new room means granting permissions again.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to grant permissions every time?
Yes. Camera and microphone permissions are requested each time you join a new discussion room, even if you granted them moments ago in another room.
What happens to a room if I leave?
As long as one member stays inside, the room stays active and you can rejoin it later. If everyone leaves, the discussion space resets to 'OPEN'
How do I find where people are already gathered?
Check the home screen or the biomes list — both show where members are hanging out, with a number indicating an active discussion room.
What's the difference between starting and joining a room?
Clicking an empty room prompts you to name it and start fresh. Clicking a room with people in it prompts you to join the discussion already in progress.
