With the Remove Background tool, you can easily separate any element from its background and use it however you like (with a new background or no background at all).

How to Use the Remove Background Tool:

  • Open the Instories app.

  • In the AI Tools section on the home screen, tap See more 13 AI Tools.

  • In the Trending Tools section, select Remove Background.

  • Tap “+” to upload the photo you want to remove the background from. (Please note that this feature only works with photos.)

  • The app will automatically cut out the main object (for example, a person) and remove the background.

  • At the bottom, you’ll see background template collections, including commercial ones like Remove Background Product and Remove Background Marble & Wood. Simply select the one you prefer.

  • If you want to adjust the position of the photo in the template before saving, simply tap and reposition it using two fingers.

  • If you prefer not to add any background to your image and want to keep the cut-out object on its own, tap Save PNG and then Save Image to save the result to your gallery.

Editing:

If the background wasn’t cut out perfectly, tap the first option (Edit Cutout), and use the Erase tool in the bottom menu. You can adjust the eraser size with the slider.

  • If you accidentally erased something you didn’t mean to, use the Restore tool next to it to bring back the elements you removed.

  • To save your changes at this stage, tap Done in the top-right corner.

Finishing Up:

  • Once you’re done and have chosen a background, you’ll be taken to the editor, where you can continue customizing your project with text, stickers, animation, and other tools.

  • To save your final result from the editor, tap Save in the top-right corner, then choose Save as Photo, Save as Video, or Save as Live Photo.

👉 You can also access this tool in the classic editor. Simply tap the image and select Remove BG from the toolbar.
