LiveSwitch - Frequently Asked Questions
How to Handle Expired LiveSwitch Video Links and Generate New Ones
LiveSwitch video links are an essential feature for sharing video content, but they come with an expiration period. This section explains why these links expire, why resending expired links does not work, and how to generate fresh, functional links.
Why Do LiveSwitch Video Links Expire?
LiveSwitch video links are designed to expire after 30 days. This expiration ensures that outdated or unused links do not remain active indefinitely, which helps maintain security and system efficiency. Once a link has expired, it cannot be used to access the associated video content.
Why Doesn’t Resending an Expired Link Work?
When you use the “Resend video” option on an existing lead or project, the system resends the same original link tied to that LiveSwitch project. Since the original link has already expired, recipients will still see an expired link and will not be able to access the video. To provide a working link, you must generate a new one rather than resending the expired link.
How to Generate a Fresh LiveSwitch Video Link
Create a New Lead in Chariot
Duplicate or clone the existing lead in the Chariot app.
Send the video link from the new lead. This process generates a new LiveSwitch project and a fresh link that recipients can use.
Create a New Conversation in LiveSwitch
In LiveSwitch, create a new conversation while keeping the same
projectExternalId.This action creates a new session that is automatically grouped under the existing project and produces a usable link without resending the expired one.
Best Practices for Managing LiveSwitch Video Links
Monitor Link Expiration: Keep track of when links are sent and their expiration dates to avoid issues with expired links.
Generate New Links Proactively: If you anticipate needing a link beyond the 30-day expiration period, create a new link in advance.
Communicate with Recipients: Inform recipients about the expiration period of the link to ensure timely access.

Link Expiration
Links for live conversations and recording requests expire 30 days after they are sent.
Multiple recordings using the same link are stored under the same Session and numbered for easy review. If a link expires, it cannot be reused. To generate a fresh link, you can either duplicate the lead in Chariot to create a new LiveSwitch project or start a new conversation in LiveSwitch while keeping the same project ID. This ensures recipients receive a functional link.
Notifications
You’ll receive an email alert when a customer’s recording is ready to view.
