By default, Chariot gives every account one hourly rate — the Default rate type. If you charge a different hourly rate on weekends, holidays, or after hours, you can add an additional rate type and switch between them on a job-by-job basis.
Why use multiple rate types
A rate type isn't the same as a one-off charge. Once a second rate type exists, it becomes a selectable option on the estimate's Rate Type dropdown — so your team picks the right rate at the time of booking rather than manually adjusting individual line items.
Creating a new rate type
You will not see a self-serve option to add a new rate type. Please contact Chariot support.
Using a rate type on an estimate
Once a second rate type is created, it appears as an option on the Rate Type dropdown on the estimate. Select it for any job that should bill at the alternate rate, and Chariot will apply that rate type's pricing instead of the Default.
Note: rate types set the hourly rate itself. If your goal is to sync a rate to actual crew hours worked, see Hourly Rate Sync - Feature Guide.
