Container / Pack / Unpack Billing in Chariot
This guide covers how to set up and use container, pack, and unpack rates for packing charges — including how they appear on estimates and Bills of Lading.
Overview
Some movers — especially for weight-based moves — charge for packing services using separate rates for each box supplied (container), packed (pack), and unpacked (unpack). Chariot fully supports this billing method on both estimates and Bills of Lading.
Step 1: Set Up Charges in Settings
Go to Settings → Charges
Click Edit on an existing charge, or create a new one
Set the Category to Packing or Materials
Use the dropdowns to set separate rates for Container, Pack, and Unpack
Save the charge
Step 2: Use on an Estimate
On the estimate, toggle on Includes Labor in the Packing section to activate container/pack/unpack billing for that job.
Container and pack rates will automatically sync for any boxes set up as synced CP inventory items
You can also build this into Estimate Templates so it applies by default
Step 3: Billing on the Bill of Lading
When the crew adds a box or materials charge to a Bill of Lading, Chariot displays separate fields for container, pack, and unpack rates — as long as Includes Labor is toggled on for the estimate's packing section.
Imported packing charges automatically apply each rate
The charges display cleanly on the final Bill of Lading and invoice — no complicated grids required
