Create a revised estimate

Video

Summary

  1. Estimate revisions are a great way to keep track of changes happening to your estimate because of approved value optioneering items. You can create multiple revisions per milestone to track costs changes.

  2. Remember you should always approve a VO item to a future milestone, and not the current milestone.

  3. When you have approved items, go back to the Estimate register, you will see a message prompting you to create a revised estimate.

  4. You can also create a revised estimate from the three dots in case you close out of the message.

  5. In this preview, you can see where the approved VO item has an impact on the estimate. You can click on any highlighted cell to see where that cost change is coming from.

  6. Click Show VOI details if you want a summary of this item right from the estimate register

  7. To create a revised estimate, each approved VO item must have the codes filled out. You will see a message prompting you to assign the missing codes.

  8. You can also access this page from the Included Items tab.

  9. To fill out any missing codes, you can do that manually by searching the list of codes. Alternatively, you can use Amplify to give you some suggestions based on the scope of the VO item.

  10. Once you assign the missing codes, click back on Preview, and you will be ready to Create a Revised Estimate.

  11. Back in the Estimate register, you can access the revised estimate from the main drop down menu. Note that revised estimates are based on the milestone data and not on other previously created revisions within the milestone. The revised estimate will be also available in the Show Variance menu if you want to do other comparisons.

  12. When working on a revised estimate, you can click on any highlighted cell to see where the change is coming from. You can also expand the cost details, and see approved VO items listed here and tagged as a ForeSite Scope.

  13. Finally, just like a milestone estimate, you can add comments to this revised estimate. If you need to, you can delete it from this menu. The revised estimate is also available in the reporting solution for you to use in generating estimate reports.
