Overview
Mobs carry forward from one report to the next, so you'll usually only add one when stock arrives, when you split an existing mob, or at the start of a season. Adding a mob runs as three dialogs one after another: the mob's details, its number of animals, then its feeding levels.
Before you start
You need permission to submit reports for the farm, and the report needs to still be open for editing. Your farm also needs its stock classes set up, because every mob belongs to one.
Step 1: Describe the mob
Click Add Mob at the top right of the Mobs section.
Enter a Mob Name.
Choose a Stock Class. Start typing to search if the list is long.
Choose a Mob Category.
Choose a Milking Frequency, if the field appears.
Choose a Location from Home platform, Home ineffective, Run-off, Grazier or Other.
Enter an Average Liveweight (kg) and a BCS (body condition score) if you have them.
Click the teal Save Changes button.
Note: Milking Frequency only appears for lactating mob categories, and BCS (body condition score) is only required for stock classes your farm records it against.
Step 2: Enter the number of animals
The Number of Animals dialog opens on its own once the mob is saved.
Enter the head count in Number in Mob. It has to be a whole number above zero.
Click Save Changes.
Step 3: Set the feeding levels
The Mob Feeding Levels dialog opens next.
Click the green Add Feed Type button.
Choose the feed from the Feed type dropdown.
Enter the Amount in kgDM/head/day, or click the calculator icon to work it out.
Repeat for any other feeds this mob is getting.
Check the Total Offered figure at the bottom.
Click Save Changes.
What to expect
Your new mob appears in the list with a grey pencil icon, showing it's been edited but not yet reviewed. The coloured capsule on the left shows the head count, and the Feeding Levels card shows the Total Offered figure.
Important: Your mob numbers need to match the closing numbers in Stock Reconciliation. Until they do, the Save & Continue button at the bottom of the page stays greyed out.
Helpful tips!
Mob Category stays locked until you've chosen a Stock Class, because the categories on offer depend on the class.
A mob can only have one row per feed type. Once every feed is on the mob, the Add Feed Type button greys out.
Leave Auto-calculate feed consumed ticked to have this mob's feeding levels counted in the report's feed consumed events.
Troubleshooting
I clicked Discard at the number of animals step. Where did my mob go?
It's in the list with no animals against it. The mob is created when you save the first dialog, so the later steps are editing a mob that already exists. Open it and use the Edit buttons to finish it off.Save & Continue is greyed out.
Your mob numbers don't line up with Stock Reconciliation yet. The panel at the top of the Mobs section shows where the numbers are out and by how much.
