Bidding on an item through an Auctions page is designed to be an easy process for your participants - but if your bidders have never participated in an online auction before, they may have questions about how to place a bid.
Below, we've created a step-by-step guide on how a bidder can place a bid.
Step 1: Log into the auction using their "magic link."
Bidders should be able to log into their account by clicking on the "Log In" button on your Auctions page, then using the "magic link" provided to them once they enter either the phone number or email associated with their account.
They should then be able to click the green "Continue" button in order to access the auction and available items.
For a reminder on how our magic links work, click here.
If your bidders haven't yet registered, they should click on "Join the Auction" instead.
They can then enter their name, phone number, and email address in order to register themselves as a bidder.
They will also be prompted on this screen to select how they would like to be notified of certain updates to the auction (such as when the auction closes, if they have been outbid on an item, etc.)
Step 2: Click "Place Bid" next to the desired item.
Once your bidder has logged in, they should be redirected to the auction's main page. From this page, they can scroll through and locate an item they'd like to bid on, and click either "View Details" to learn more about the item, or click the "Place Bid" button next to that item to initiate a new bid.
On the item's "Details" screen, your bidder will be be asked to confirm your bid, as well as the "max" bid they'd like to offer for the item; once they've confirmed that information, they can click the "Place Bid" button.
Your bidder should then see the page refresh and a banner will appear at the top confirming that their bid was successful.
If they also now hold the highest bid for that item, a second banner will appear on the item's "Details" page indicating that they have the current highest bid.
