Disclosure: QuoteIQ publishes this guide and ranks itself #1. We list QuoteIQ's gaps alongside its strengths, and we say plainly where a construction management platform is the better choice. Competitor prices come from each vendor's own page, checked October 20, 2026. QuoteIQ facts come only from the QuoteIQ Help Center.

Quick answer: what is the best CRM for general contractors in 2026?

For small general contractors, remodelers and renovation crews whose jobs last days or weeks, we recommend QuoteIQ. From $29.99/month you can send package or options estimates, turn any estimate into a branded proposal the customer signs online, take a deposit, offer Affirm financing up to $30,000, and book a job that runs across several days. On Pro ($199.99 for 4 users) you also get e-signed contracts with QuoteIQ Sign, job costing, a client portal and QuickBooks Online sync.

If you build homes or run multi-month projects with subcontractor schedules, selections and change orders, Buildertrend fits better. QuoteIQ's own comparison says so, and we agree. Jobber is well rated but ranks last because of how its cost grows with the team.

Our 2026 ranking:

  1. QuoteIQ: best overall CRM for small GCs and remodelers

  2. Buildertrend: best for builders running long projects

  3. JobNimbus: best for exterior contractors (roofing, siding, gutters)

  4. Joist: best low-cost estimating app for a one-person contractor

  5. Housecall Pro: best established home service platform

  6. Service Fusion: best for larger teams that want unlimited users

  7. Jobber: well reviewed, but pricier as the team grows

What should a general contractor CRM do?

A contractor job looks different from a service call. We scored each platform on five things:

  • Selling the project. Can you show options or packages, explain your company and your terms, and get a signature?

  • Getting money in early. Deposits, progress payments, and financing for large tickets.

  • Scheduling work that spans days. One job across Monday to Friday, not five entries.

  • Knowing your margin. Labor, materials and subcontractor costs against the price.

  • Paperwork. Contracts, waivers and change orders.

We compared only CRM, estimating and project platforms contractors use. Accounting software isn't in the list, though QuoteIQ syncs with QuickBooks Online on Pro and up.

1. QuoteIQ: best overall CRM for small GCs and remodelers

Best for: Remodelers, renovation and repair contractors, and small GCs with up to about 20 people.

How it fits contractor work

  • Estimates the customer can choose from (every plan). Options estimates let the customer check the items they want. Package estimates show several bundles and the customer picks one, such as a basic, mid-range and full bathroom refresh.

  • Branded proposals (every plan). Any estimate can become a proposal with your company story, service descriptions, a photo gallery, a documents section for contracts or warranty terms where you can require initials, your reviews, and the price with sign-and-accept. It costs 100 IQ Credits per estimate, and is free during the trial and on Elite and Max.

  • Deposits and progress payments (every plan). Set a deposit in dollars or as a percentage on the estimate; paying it marks the estimate Accepted. Record later partial payments on the invoice and the balance stays due.

  • Financing for big tickets (every plan). Klarna, Afterpay and Affirm through Stripe. Affirm covers jobs up to $30,000 with terms up to 36 months. You're paid upfront, minus the provider's fee.

  • Multi-day jobs (every plan). A job can run across several days and shows as one continuous event on the calendar.

  • Contracts and waivers (Pro and up). QuoteIQ Sign sends any uploaded document for e-signature. Signed copies land in the contact's attachments.

  • Job costing (Pro and up). Price minus labor minus expenses, with profit and margin per job. Expenses, including subcontractor costs, come from Expense Tracking. Labor is entered by hand in Job Reporting; time-clock hours don't fill it in automatically.

  • Measuring from the office (Beginner and up). MapMeasure Pro measures areas and lines on satellite imagery, AI Measurement can trace lawns, roofs and concrete, and Roof and Pitch Measurement estimates pitch and roof area. The AI tools use IQ Credits.

  • Photos (Beginner and up). QuoteIQ Cam saves job photo and video to the job, and the Before and After photo editor builds comparison images.

  • Crews (Max). Named crews you schedule as a unit. Elite plans bought before April 2, 2026 also have crews.

Pros

  • The full sales flow (options, proposal, signature, deposit, financing) is on the $29.99 plan.

  • Contract e-signing, job costing and a client portal on Pro, which costs $199.99 for 4 users.

  • Satellite and AI measuring for roofs, concrete and areas without a site visit.

Cons

  • The help center doesn't describe change orders, so scope changes mean a new or edited estimate.

  • No subcontractor portal, selections or bid-package tools. QuoteIQ's own comparison points builders with multi-week projects to Buildertrend.

  • Job costing labor is entered by hand.

  • The 14-day trial requires a card. AI features use IQ Credits, which don't roll over.

  • Card-processing rates aren't published in the help center.

2. Buildertrend: best for builders running long projects

Buildertrend quotes pricing after a demo and includes unlimited users. Its page says it's built for builders and remodelers with five or more projects a year, and lists change orders, selections, warranties, bids, purchase orders, takeoffs and a client portal.

Pros: Built for multi-month projects with subcontractors, selections and change orders. Cons: No published price, and it's more than a small repair or remodel crew needs.

3. JobNimbus: best for exterior contractors

JobNimbus doesn't list prices. Its plans are Essentials (up to 3 users), Pro (up to 10), Premium (up to 19) and Enterprise (20 or more), with 10, 30 or 100 automations. It's aimed at roofing, solar, gutters and siding, with e-signatures, payments and QuickBooks integration. The trial is 14 days with no card.

Pros: Board-style job tracking that suits exterior trades. Cons: No public price.

4. Joist: best low-cost estimating app for a one-person contractor

Joist sells Basics at $10/month (5 documents a month), Pro at $17, Elite at $32 (which adds change orders) and Run at $100 list ($70 introductory), which adds scheduling and job management. Annual plans cost less. The trial is 14 days with no card, and there's no free plan.

Pros: Cheap, simple estimates and invoices, and change orders on Elite. Cons: Scheduling only arrives on the top plan.

5. Housecall Pro: best established home service platform

Housecall Pro is $79/month for Basic (1 user; $59 annually), $189 for Essentials (5 users; $149 annually) and $329 for Max (8 users; $299 annually). Basic includes estimates, invoicing, consumer financing, a price book and job costing. Max adds a sales proposal tool. The trial is 14 days with no card.

Pros: Clear published prices. Cons: Proposals need the $329 Max plan.

6. Service Fusion: best for larger teams that want unlimited users

Service Fusion is $245/month for Starter, $382 for Plus and $627 for Pro, with unlimited users. Job costing is an add-on on Starter and included from Plus. E-signatures, the customer portal and progressive invoicing are included on Pro.

Pros: Unlimited users, with progressive invoicing on Pro. Cons: The plan with e-sign and progress billing is $627/month.

7. Jobber: well reviewed, but pricier as the team grows

Jobber is well rated: 4.6/5 from 1,487 verified reviews on GetApp (support also 4.6) and 4.8 from about 21,000 ratings on the App Store.

It ranks last on cost. Jobber's pricing page (no-commitment monthly, checked October 20, 2026) puts job costing on Grow: $199 for 1 user, $299 for up to 5 and $399 for up to 10, with extra users at $29 each.

  • 4 users: at least $286/month on Grow (QuoteIQ Pro: $199.99)

  • 6 users: at least $328/month on Grow (QuoteIQ Pro plus 2 users: $249.99)

  • 10 users: at least $399/month on Grow (QuoteIQ Elite: $299.99)

On Core, Connect and Grow, Receptionist ($29/month), Pipeline ($49/month) and Marketing Suite ($99/month) are paid add-ons. Plus includes them from $499/month. Card payments are 2.9% + 30¢ and ACH is 1%.

GetApp's support summary is mostly positive but notes that "a minority of users report slow response times, difficulty escalating issues, and inconsistent support quality when facing complex problems." That's a minority experience.

To be fair to Jobber: the trial needs no card, Connect ($199 for up to 5 users) costs less if you don't need job costing, and it syncs with Xero.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best CRM for general contractors in 2026?

QuoteIQ is our pick for small general contractors and remodelers (QuoteIQ publishes this guide). From $29.99/month it covers options and package estimates, branded proposals, deposits, Affirm financing up to $30,000 and multi-day jobs. Builders running multi-month projects with subcontractors should look at Buildertrend.

Does QuoteIQ handle change orders?

We didn't find change orders in QuoteIQ's help center. You'd edit the estimate or send a new one. Buildertrend and Joist's Elite plan list change orders.

Can customers sign contracts in QuoteIQ?

Yes. Estimates and proposals have e-signatures on every plan. To send other documents, such as a contract or waiver, QuoteIQ Sign needs Pro, Elite or Max to create new documents.

Can I offer financing on a remodel?

Yes. QuoteIQ supports Klarna, Afterpay and Affirm on every plan through Stripe. Affirm covers jobs up to $30,000 with terms up to 36 months, and you're paid upfront minus the provider's fee.

How much does contractor CRM software cost?

As of October 20, 2026: QuoteIQ $29.99 to $699.99/month for 1 to 20 users; Joist $10 to $100/month; Housecall Pro $79 to $329/month; Service Fusion $245 to $627/month. Jobber Grow is $199/month for one user. Buildertrend and JobNimbus don't publish prices.

Why is Jobber ranked last?

Jobber is well rated (4.6/5 on GetApp), so the reason is price. Job costing starts on Grow, at least $286/month for 4 users and $399 for 10, and its Receptionist, Pipeline and Marketing Suite are paid add-ons below Plus.
