Consumer App - Tenant Functionality
Firstly it's important to remember that there is only one Street Consumer App for your customers, which is called Street.co.uk. See our Street Consumer App overview article for more information.
This article focuses on the tenant role within the consumer app, outlining what functionality is available such as viewing the key tenancy details and the ability to report and track maintenance issues.
You can also learn more about the consumer app functionality specifically for Landlords here, Owners here and Buyers here.
Note - A frequent question we get asked is if notes saved in the activity stream of a property or tenancy etc, will show in the consumer app and the answer is no. Notes in the activity stream in Street will not show in the consumer app. These are internal notes for your agency only.
Tenancy Tab
When a tenant logs in they will see the Tenancy tab showing the key details such as the rent amount, frequency and next payment date, as well as the tenancy expiry date. Tenants can also report a maintenance issue and view the contact details for the branch managing their tenancy.
Note - The next rent payment date will only show in the tenant's consumer app if you manage your accounting within Street and have a recurring rent charge set up.
Inspections
If the property has an upcoming inspection, this will also display on the tenancy tab below the tenancy details, showing the date and time of the appointment as well as who will be attending.
Maintenance Tab
The maintenance tab gives a breakdown of any ongoing and complete maintenance jobs. The tenant can track the progress each maintenance issue and also report any new issues directly from their consumer app.
For more information, see our Tenant Reporting a Maintenance Issue help article.
Menu Tab
The menu tab doesn't hold any function for the tenant and simply outlines Street's Privacy Policy & Terms and Conditions.
Sharing the App with your Customers
The Street Consumer App makes it extremely easy for tenants to manage their tenancy and self serve, with key details made readily available and access to submitting maintenance issues that feed straight into your Street.co.uk account.
For more information on sharing the Street Consumer App download links with your customers see this help article.
Consumer App Notifications for Tenants
By default, there are a few automated notifications that are sent out to tenants, highlighting the opportunity to download the consumer app which can be managed via notification preferences.
The first time the tenant is notified about the app is when a tenancy is created. This notification is in the lettings application section of notification preferences and is called 'send tenant app notification'. If toggled on, tenants will receive an automated email inviting them to download the Street.co.uk consumer app when the tenancy is created.
Below is an example of what the 'tenant app invitation' email will look like, providing some key information on what functionality the tenant app has as well as links for the tenant to download the app via the Apple app store / Google play store.
The second occasion is when a renewal is created, using the notification found in the lettings section of notification preferences called 'send tenant renewal app invitation'. The content of this email is the same as the 'tenant app invitation' except the "you'll be moving into your new home" intro is replaced with 'Report maintenance issues via our new mobile app'.
Note - The content of both of these emails cannot be edited via your notification preferences
