The CoSS will play an important role in ensuring that geofencing technology is deployed and used correctly during rail projects.

In this article, find out recommended steps for the CoSS to follow when using Tended's geofencing technology with trackside teams.

Before starting your geofencing shift, the project's geofences (safe zones) will have been created and approved. Once you're on site:

  1. Collect devices at the start of the shift

    1. Follow your process to collect the devices needed

    2. Check devices for charge, quantity and damage

  2. Start the site and assign devices to the Dashboard (sometimes completed by the ES)

    1. Assign the devices to the project or the site

    1. If inside a safe zone check for 3 green lights (LEDs)

    2. If waiting to enter a safe zone check for 2 green LEDs and blue fading pin LED

  3. Allocate devices and attachments to track workers

  4. Carry out safety briefing

    1. Include information on geofencing and Tended technology

  5. Monitor correct use of technology throughout shift

    1. Report any damage or inconsistencies

  6. Finish your shift

    1. Collect and turn off devices

    2. Stop the site on the Dashboard (sometimes done by the ES)

    3. Place all devices on charge, ready for the following shift
