In this article, we'll take you through the steps to take to plan the locations of both possession limit boards and work site marker boards (boards) using the Tended Dashboard. You'll also find out how the trackside team can use the technology to accurately place the marker boards on site.

This recommended process can be used for marker boards, as well as other fixed site assets such as possession limit boards.

πŸ’‘ Tended tip: Before you get started with this process we recommend you take a look at the following articles:

How to place marker boards and possession limit boards using geofencing technology

Planning stage

Once you've created your site's geofences (safe zones) you can plan the locations of your site's boards.

  1. On your site map, plan the locations of your boards in line with the requirements of your safe work pack

Deployment stage

When you're ready to start the work, follow the steps below to prepare for and carry out your shift.

  1. Collect the devices that will be assigned to the marker boards and possession limit boards

  2. Assign devices to your project or site on the Dashboard

  3. Give your devices nicknames corresponding to the asset they'll be attached to (i.e. marker board site 1"

  4. Start the site once access has been granted

    1. Enter the access point, and wait to hear the enter safe zone alert before entering the track

      1. If there is no alert, contact your ES or check live location in the Dashboard

  5. Place the board:

    1. Access the line where the board will be placed, within the safe zone, and walk towards the planned location

    2. When you hear the exit safe zone alert, step back until the device stops alerting and place the board

  6. Check board location on the Dashboard

    1. Use the live map tab to check the board's live location and compare this with the planned location

    2. Communicate with the trackside team if any placement changes are needed

End of shift

  1. Once all works have been completed, follow the organisation's processes to gain authorisation to remove boards from the site

  2. Using the Live Map review asset live locations to ensure the line is clear, in line with your usual line clear processes

  3. Return the devices to the depots and place on charge for the following shift
