In this article, we'll take you through our recommended steps to follow when using Tended technology to make sure all on-site tools, equipment and plant have been removed from a worksite ready for the line to re-open to traffic.

🚨 Important note: use Tended's geofencing technology as well as your existing processes, not as a replacement.

How to prevent objects from being left on the line

πŸ’‘ Tended tip: Before you get started with this process we recommend you take a look at the following articles:

Planning stage

Once you've created your site's geofences (safe zones) you can plan the location of fixed assets and site information on your site map.

For example: plan locations of fixed assets such as marker boards and possession limit boards. You'll then be able to pair these planned locations with the specific asset's devices to ensure the assets are accurately placed.

  1. On your site map, plan the locations of your site assets in line with the requirements of your safe work pack

    1. You can plan the locations of fixed assets such as marker boards and possession limit boards

    2. Optionally, you can plan the starting locations for non-fixed assets such as RRVs and trolleys

Deployment stage

When you're ready to start the work, follow the steps below to prepare to and carry out your shift.

  1. Assign devices to your project or site on the Dashboard in "Asset mode"

  2. Give your devices nicknames corresponding to the asset they'll be attached to

  3. Start the site once access has been granted

  4. Monitor asset activity during the shift using the RAG view and Live Map

    1. Follow processes to correct and report any issues and irregularities

End shift

Once works have been completed, track teams will hand back their work sites. You'll then be able to use the Tended Dashboard in line with your organisation's processes, to confirm that all objects, that have devices attached to them, have been removed from the site.

  1. Use the RAG view to view the location of on-site assets within the work site limits that are being handed back

  2. Stop the site and be alerted if there are assets left on the site, within the limits

  3. If assets are left on site use the RAG view or Live Map view to identify where and then repeat steps 1 and 2

  4. Arrange for all devices to be returned and placed on charge so they're ready for the following shift

Important note: you can not stop a site whilst its safe zone(s) contains a live device in Asset mode. However, if devices are in Wearable mode, the site can be stopped.
