This feature is only available with the following products:

Portals are typically specific to an event or league. However, portals can also be created that are not specific to an event or league. These "stand-alone" portals can be created and used for various purposes.

Some examples of using a "stand-alone" portal:

  • Men's/Women's Golf Association Portal: This portal typically includes a directory of all the MGA/WGA events. Click Here for details on setting up an MGA/WGA.

  • Junior Golf Portal: This portal typically includes a directory of all the Junior Golf events.

  • General Club Tournament Information Portal: This portal typically includes all the directories for a club (e.g., Men's, Women's, Junior) and other general tournament information at the club like tournament rules, etiquette, dress code, tournament committee information, etc. This type of portal acts as the main website for a club's tournament operation.

  • Team Matches Portal: When setting up Team Cup Matches, a stand-alone portal is automatically created. For details on Team Cup Matches, Click Here.

  • Master Roster Registration Portal: If using Master Roster Registration, a "stand-alone" portal will be created to host the registration form.

  • Multi-Event Series (Lottery): This portal is generated when creating a multi-event series. The Multi-Event Series feature facilitates the setup of several similar events simultaneously. Further, it can be used in conjunction with the Lottery Feature. For more details, Click Here.

  • Multi-Stage Event: This portal is generated when creating a multi-stage event. Typically used for Major events often have qualifying events associated with them. For more details, Click Here.

It is also possible to display your portals in multiple languages. Click Here to learn more.

In this article, we will discuss how to set up this type of portal.

Creating a "stand-alone" portal:

You can create as many "stand-alone" portals as you'd like. To create this type of portal, go to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Other Portals > Add New Portal. Name the portal and click "Save".

On the portal setup page, make any necessary changes to the:

  • Portal Name: Re-name the portal if needed.

  • Portal Prefix: A prefix is automatically generated for the portal. However, you can change it if you'd like. The prefix is included in the URL for the portal (prefix.golfgenius.com). For instance, you may want to shorten the prefix, which will shorten the portal URL. As you change the prefix, you will see the portal address change above.

  • Portal GGID: A portal GGID is automatically generated for your portal. However, you can change it if you'd like. The portal GGID is the general password for your players to access and view private pages on the portal. You can also send your players the GGID portal link, which includes the GGID. When clicking on this link, players will automatically be logged in using the GGID. The portal link is available above the portal setup page.

After verifying the portal setup information, click "Save".

Managing a "stand-alone" portal:

To manage your "stand-alone" portals, go to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Other Portals. All of the portals will be listed.

When clicking on the "actions" dropdown, you can:

  • Edit Details: You can change the portal name, prefix, and GGID.

  • Go to Portal: Access, design, and make changes to the portal. For details on designing a portal, Click Here.

  • Change Season: Select a season to include the portal. By default, it is not included in any season.

  • Logos, Banners, & Backgrounds: Upload and select the logo, banner, and background image to be used for the "stand-alone" portal. For details on:

  • Photo Albums: Create photo albums and upload photos to the albums. These photo albums can be displayed on the portal when adding the Photo Stream Portal Page.

  • Clone: Clone the portal to create a new and separate portal. The new portal will have new URL and GGID.

  • Delete: Delete the portal. There is no "undo" action and the portal URL will no longer be active.

Common Pages for "stand-alone" portals:

There are many pages that can be added to a "stand-alone" portal.

Some commonly used portal pages are:

  • Season Points: If keeping track of Season Points, you can display the current season points by adding this page.

  • Page from a Different Portal: You can display any page from any of your other portals. For instance, you can display the tournament results from an event portal to your "stand-alone" portal. Select the event portal, then the page.

  • Directory of Leagues and Events: Display one or more directories on your "stand-alone" portal. For instance, if you are creating a general tournament information portal for your club that includes information for all of your events, you will probably want to create a separate portal page for every directory at your club. By doing that, all of the event portals at your club can be accessed from that "stand-alone" portal.
