Definition of workflows, statuses and terms used in Lister and Link

Overview

This guide outlines terminology used when interacting with Lister or Link. Understanding the definition of these terms is important to communicate with your team effectively and understand the lifecycle of your items as they travel through Lister.

Software Terms

  • Lister: The web-based program for desktops, laptops and tablets that controls your products, inventory, and listings

  • Link: The iOS companion app for Lister

  • Lister Connect: A background program required to print barcodes and shipping labels in Lister


Admin Terms

  • Teammate: A user who can log into Lister and Link

  • Role: A set of permissions that control what functions a teammate can access in Lister and Link

  • Category: Classes of item types that are used in conjunction with Builder Templates and Listing Strategies

  • Builder Template: A customizable form for creating dynamic listing titles and descriptions

  • Static Template: A fixed template that remains the same in listing descriptions

  • Listing Strategy: Feature that enables for automatic relisting of unsold items

  • Concurrent Listing Strategy: Feature allowing for simultaneous fixed-price listings on more than one channel

  • Embedded Listings: Premium paid upgrade feature that allows you to drive more traffic to your existing websites by pulling in all of your active listings to your existing organization’s website


General Terms

  • Supplier: A store, donation site, or vendor who sends products to e-commerce

  • Manifest: A list of products being sent from a supplier to e-commerce for sale online

  • Authentication: A third-party service that evaluates products to determine whether they are authentic or counterfeit

  • Product: A digital representation of a physical object(s) that gets listed for sale or auction. Products are viewable in the Product Manager

  • Listing: A digital representation of an item as it appears on an online marketplace. Listings are viewable in the Listings Manager

  • Channel: Online marketplace where listings live; eBay, Shopify, Shopgoodwill, etc

💡Operational Tip: A Product is the digital representation of a physical item in your inventory, and a Listing is a digital representation of an item as it appears on an online marketplace.

One Product may be connected to multiple Listings as it posts to online marketplaces, but each listing will link back to the original Product.

Listing Statuses

  • Listed: A Product that was listed and is now live on an online selling channel

  • Pending: A Product that has listing details but has not yet been listed online. Pending listings need to be manually reviewed before they go live

  • Unpaid: Sold Product is awaiting payment from buyer

  • Sold: Listed Product was sold, and payment was completed

  • Expired: Expired listings represent items in an intermediate state. They were listed but ended without a sale and may require manual intervention to list again. A listing will show as expired in the following scenarios:

    • Listings not on a Listing Strategy that ended and did not receive bids or were not purchased via Buy It Now

    • Listings on a Listing Strategy are categorized as expired when a Listing Strategy is not set to Auto Recycle once all steps are completed without a sale

    • Listings between Listing Strategy steps. Once the next listing step begins, the previous listing will update from “Expired” to “Recycled”

    • A prior listing step ended with a sale that was later refunded and relisted manually without resuming or restarting the listing strategy

  • Delisted: A listing that has been manually taken down by a teammate or an automated action within Lister

  • Recycled: Listings that aren’t being used. They’re not active on a channel

  • anywhere. Recycled Listings can be relisted. Recycled Products can be purged (deleted) or restored. To recycle a Product, all listings must be recycled or sold.

  • Attention Required: A listing with an error preventing it from going live on the marketplace. These listings need to be inspected and updated before they will appear online


Inventory Management Terms

  • Inventory: The physical space and digital representation of your stored Products

  • Reshelf: A tool in Link and Lister to move items to various locations within your inventory

  • Order Manager: A list of items and shipping information for each completed purchase on a marketplace

  • Picking Profile: A set of order filters created in Lister that allows you to pull specific types of Orders in Link

  • Pack Slip: A printed order invoice containing all items within an order

  • Pack Mode: A tool within Lister to ensure the right items are packed into each shipment

  • Shipments Manager: A history of all shipments and labels created for Orders within Lister

  • Scan Form: A printed USPS Scan From or Canada Post Scan From acceptance list that represents all of the packages shipped in Lister for the day

  • Recycled Product: Products that aren’t being used. They’re not active on a channel

  • anywhere. Recycled products can be purged (deleted) or restored so they can be listed again

  • Purge List: A digital or physical list of recycled Products that did not sell and need to be removed from inventory

  • Purged Product: A recycled Product that has been removed from your Product manager but can still be found via the Listing Manager, Manifests, Link, and various reports in Lister
