Who this is for: Hosts who claim Home Refresh jobs.
What is this job about?
A Home Refresh is for a Landing home that has been empty for a while and needs a cleaning refresh to meet Landing's standards before a member moves in. You check that everything in the home works, give it a thorough clean, and stage every room. See Landing Cleaning Standards.
The checks matter as much as the cleaning. You test the appliances, lights, plumbing, heating and cooling, and outlets, look over the walls, doors, and cabinets, and record what you find on the home condition form, so Landing can fix any problems before the member arrives.
What do I need before I start?
Before you head to the home, check you have everything in this table. The times are a guide for each home size.
Credential | General Host credential |
How long it takes | About 2 hours for a 1 or 2 bedroom home, about 3 hours for a 3 bedroom home, and about 4 hours for a 4 bedroom home |
What to bring | Your cleaning kit. See Building Your Host Cleaning Kit. |
Access | Read the access instructions in your job before you arrive. See Getting In. |
Don't skip these
Complete every task in the Host App as instructed, and upload the photos each task asks for. A job is not complete until every task is done. Pay particular attention to these:
1. The home checks and "Home Condition Reporting." Work through "Appliances," "Lights," "Plumbing," "Surfaces," "Cabinets," "Heating & Cooling," and "Electrical," then record everything you found on the home condition form. Submit a maintenance request for anything broken. See Making a Maintenance Request.
2. Staging each room to Landing's standard. The bedroom, living room, bathroom, and kitchen staging tasks each link to a guide and need a photo of the finished room. See Cleaning and Staging the Bedroom, Cleaning and Staging the Living Room, Cleaning and Staging the Bathroom, and Cleaning and Staging the Kitchen.
3. "Leave Member Keys on the Countertop" and "Leaving the Home." If the home has more than one set of keys, leave one on the counter with the fobs and parking passes and return one to the KeyNest. Return a set even if the home was unlocked when you arrived. See Getting In.
4. "Take All Trash with You." Take it to the dumpster or trash room, not valet trash, and replace every trash can liner. See Trash Disposal at a Landing Property.
What if something is not right?
Something does not work, such as an appliance, a light, the plumbing, or the heating and cooling. Record it on the home condition form and submit a maintenance request, so it is fixed before the member moves in.
The WiFi is below 50 Mbps. Let Landing know, so it can be fixed before the member moves in. See Landing WiFi.
The home needs far more than a refresh, such as heavy grime, strong odors, or a lot of pet hair. Let Landing know before you start the extra work. See Excessive Cleaning Issues.
