How do I remind bidders to take action?
Updated over 4 months ago

There are a few key moments throughout your auction in which you may want to remind your bidders to take action - namely, when the auction has begun, right before the auction is set to conclude, and when the auction has closed and payment is due.

Below, we'll show you how to ensure that your Auctions page is set up to automatically sent the appropriate notifications - as well as how to manually sent out notifications to bidders to remind them to take those important actions.

Step 1: Turn the options on for the appropriate notifications within your Auctions page.

When creating an Auctions page, you're asked within the "How do you want to handle notifications?" section about some automated messages you can send your attendees throughout the duration of your event. By default, all three options are "on" when creating a new auction.

If you choose to leave all three of the automated messages turned on, bidders will get a simple message sent as a text message or plain text email.

  • Auction Starting – This notification is sent to all registered bidders when the auction has officially started.

  • Auction Ending – This notification is sent to all registered bidders approximately twenty minutes prior to the auction’s scheduled end time.

  • Auction Ended with Commitments to Pay – This notification is sent after the auction has ended to bidders that need to pay for items they have won.

You can turn these notifications off if you wish, but we highly recommend leaving them on as it takes those communications tasks off your plate.

Step 2 (optional): Send a communication out to your bidders via text or email through Donor Management.

You also have the option to send a communication out to your bidders directly through Donor Management; this option can be particularly helpful if you'd like to send some reminder "nudges" to individuals who have yet to check out well after the auction has concluded.

To do so, you'll want to make sure that you've created a group in Donor Management with all of the winners from your auction included within that group.

You can then use that group to send an email or text message reminder (outside of those automated messages mentioned above) to checkout and pay, so that they can receive their winnings.
