How do I understand the difference between "amount raised" and "amount paid"?

After your auction has concluded and your attendees are starting to make payments for the items that they've won, you'll likely see two distinct totals appear - "amount raised" and "amount paid."

Below, we'll go over how to understand the difference between these two amounts - and how to appropriately use both for different needs your organization might have following your auction.

Step 1: Understand the difference between the two totals.

The “amount raised” figure for your auction represents how much your organization can anticipate receiving once your auction has closed. This includes the total amounts of each winning bid, as well as any donations, “fund-a-need" options, or “buy it now” purchases.

The “amount paid” is the total amount to date of funds your organization has collected from your auction participants. It includes any payments that you’ve already received online from bidders who have won, as well as any cash or check payments that have been entered offline.

In other words, the “amount raised” is the total anticipated amount you and your organization should expect to collect from this auction – and “amount paid” is what portion of that total anticipated amount has already been collected.

Step 2: Compare the two totals and reach out to those who haven't yet completed payment.

The key difference between these two totals is the amount of money that has been pledged, and what's actually been collected - so knowing how much those two numbers vary can help you understand who to reach out to to finalize those transactions.

If you look at a bidder's record after an auction has concluded, it should clearly display the amount that this bidder is responsible for under the "Total Won" column; for anyone who hasn't yet paid for those winnings, you'll also see an "$XX unpaid" next to that amount.

You should also be able to easily see which bidders haven't yet paid in the "Bidders Who Haven't Paid" section on your auction's overview page - and you have the option to message them all directly with the "Message all" button.

You can also click on the "Actions" button next to an individual bidder in the "Bidders who Haven't Paid" section to send an individual checkout notification, add an offline payment, or initiate the checkout process for the bidder.
