What is Updox Central?
Updox Central is a service you install once per practice to streamline tasks like centralized printing, auto-loading files, and fax integration via your scanner or fax server. Once configured, changes apply immediately—just click Close to run it as a service.
Note: Updox printers are not compatible with ARM-based Windows devices.
Before You Begin
Confirm your system meets the necessary requirements.
Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.1 or newer.
Windows Server 2016 or newer, and Windows 10 or newer
Ensure the following firewall URL is whitelisted:
updox-central.s3.amazonaws.com
1. Download and Install Updox Central
In your browser, paste or navigate to following link and press Enter:
https://myupdox.com/central/setup.exe
Or click here:
If prompted, choose Run (e.g., Chrome).
Otherwise, Download and double-click the file (e.g., Firefox, IE).
The Install Wizard appears—follow the prompts to complete installation. An Updox Central icon will appear on your desktop.
If Updox Central doesn’t launch automatically, double-click the desktop icon.
2. Configure Updox Central
Open the Updox Central interface.
Enter your Integration Key (found in Updox under Admin → Practice Information).
Check Run Updox Central as a Service.
Click Close to finish.
3. Enable Additional Features (optional)
A. Centralized Printing
Check Enable Printer.
Follow the steps in the Install the Updox Central Printer article to set up the virtual printer.
Click Close when finished.
B. Auto-Upload Files (Non-Fax)
Check Enable File Auto-Upload Folder.
Click Choose, select the folder Updox Central should monitor, then click Close.
C. Fax Server Integration
Check Enable Fax Auto-Upload Folder.
Click Choose, select the folder to monitor for faxes, then click Close.
4. Verify Successful Setup
Ensure Updox Central service is running (check the system tray or Services console).
Test each feature:
Print a document to the Updox Central Printer and confirm it appears in your workspace.
Drop a file into your auto-upload folder to verify sync.
Send a fax via your fax server folder and check it processes correctly.
