How can I add documents to my Updox Inbox?
There are two quick ways:
Method | Best for |
Print to Updox | Documents you have open on your computer, such as an EHR note, lab result, or report |
Drag and drop | Files saved on your computer, such as PDFs, images, and scans |
Once a document is in your Inbox, you can mark it up, redact it, sign it, and send it. You can also combine several documents and send them together.
How do I print a document to Updox?
Before you start: The Updox Printer must be installed on your computer.
Open the document you want to add.
Select Print.
Choose Updox Printer as your printer.
Print the document.
The document appears in your Updox Inbox.
Example: You can print a clinical note, a lab result, and an X-ray to Updox, one after the other, then combine them and send them all at once.
How do I drag and drop a document into my Inbox?
Open your Updox Inbox.
On your computer, find the file or files you want to add.
Select the files, then drag them into your Updox Inbox.
That's it. The files appear in your Inbox.
Tip: You can drag several files at once.
How do I know my upload worked?
A red Upload tag on an item is normal. It doesn't mean something went wrong.
If an upload doesn't work, the item says Failed.
Where do my printed or uploaded documents go?
They go to the location in your Send Print/Upload to setting. To check it:
Select your name in the bottom left corner of the Inbox.
Select Profile, then Settings.
Check Send Print/Upload to.
If you still can't find a document you printed or uploaded, clear your Inbox filters.
How do I change the quality of printed or uploaded documents?
Select your name in the bottom left corner of the Inbox.
Select Profile, then Settings.
Choose an option in Convert Printed/Uploaded documents in.
Select Save.
Option | Best for |
Smart B&W (recommended) | Best balance of file size and clarity |
Black & White | Faxes and text reports (smallest files) |
Grayscale | Black-and-white pictures |
Color (256 colors) | Text and reports with color |
Color (16 million colors) | Photos (largest files) |
Tip: If documents look blurry or unclear when you fax them, try a different option here.
What if my document is too large to print to Updox?
Large files may not print to Updox, or you may see "Error sending print. Status: 413 Request Entity Too Large." The limit depends on the file's size, not the number of pages.
Try one of these:
Drag and drop the file into your Inbox instead of printing it.
Split the document into smaller files.
Save it as a smaller file, such as a lower-quality PDF.
What can I do with documents once they're in my Inbox?
Mark them up or add notes
Redact information
Add a signature
Send them one at a time, or combine several into one message
