Why upload a Broadcast patient list?
Uploading a list is a quick way to create a group of patients for your Broadcast messages. It's useful when you already have the list you want, for example exported from another system.
Important: Everyone on the list must already be a patient in Updox. The Patient ID in your file has to match the patient's ID in Updox.
Step 1: Open File Upload
In the left-hand menu, click Inbox.
Click Tools in the top right.
Click File Upload (.csv).
Step 2: Choose the Broadcast list upload type
In the first dropdown, choose Updox Standard Maps.
In the second dropdown, choose Broadcast Patient List.
Step 3: Download the template and add your patients
Click Download Template. The template .csv opens in a new tab.
Enter your patients, one patient per row.
Save the file as a .csv file.
Important: Keep the template format exactly as it is. Don't add, remove, or reorder columns.
Which columns are required?
Column | What to enter |
Patient ID | The patient's ID. It must match an existing patient in Updox. |
First Name | The patient's first name |
Last Name | The patient's last name |
DOB | The patient's date of birth |
Gender | The patient's gender |
Active | TRUE |
Step 4: Upload your file
Make sure Updox Standard Maps and Broadcast Patient List are still selected.
Choose your .csv file.
Enter a name for the list. This is the name you'll see when you send a Broadcast.
Click Upload.
Step 5: Check that your file processed
Your file first shows under Unprocessed Files. When processing is finished, it moves to Processed Files automatically.
Where do I find my uploaded list?
To send a Broadcast: Choose your list by name in Send To.
To manage the list: In the left-hand menu, click Broadcast, then click the Lists tab
Why did my list upload fail?
Patients aren't in Updox yet. Every Patient ID must match an existing patient. Add them first.
Wrong column order. Columns must match the template exactly.
Wrong file type. Save as .csv, not Excel (.xlsx).
Wrong dropdowns. Make sure Updox Standard Maps and Broadcast Patient List are selected.
