Can I stop patients from messaging a provider directly?
Yes. You can choose which users patients can send portal messages to. Removing a provider from this list stops patients from messaging them. The provider’s account stays active, so they can still use Telehealth and other Updox features.
Important: Don’t deactivate a provider’s portal to stop patient messages. Use the steps below instead, so the provider can keep using Telehealth
How do I choose which users patients can message?
In the Updox Inbox, select Admin (top right).
Select Patient Portal.
Find Add users patient can send portal message to.
Uncheck each provider or user you don’t want patients to message.
Select Save.
Patients can still message the users who are checked, such as your front desk or nurse staff.
Can I use Video Chat without logging in to Updox?
No. Providers must be logged in to Updox to use Video Chat.
Note: If your practice uses a patient portal through another EHR that’s powered by Updox, such as eMDs, your options may look different. Contact Updox Support if you don’t see these settings.
