Casper

What is Casper? Casper is an online, open-response situational judgment test that asks what you would do in a tough situation, and more importantly, why. It is not a pass-fail test. Casper responses are compared to the responses of a pool of applicants interested in programs similar to yours in the same country and in the same language.

Before the Test

  1. Create an Acuity Insights account here if you don’t have one already. Refrain from creating duplicate accounts to avoid issues with your score distribution.

  2. Check the Dates and Fees page for test dates and distribution deadlines.

    1. Check the admissions cycle.

    2. For Canadian schools, make note of the Test Language as this is an irreversible choice.

  3. Log into your account to Reserve a Test.

Important: Check your test time by converting the Casper Test Time (shown on the Dates and Fees page) to your own time zone. You can check the Casper page in your account for the difference between your time zone and the Casper test time zone.

Accommodations: To learn more about accommodations, please visit our help center.

During the Test

  • You must take Casper on a computer using Google Chrome or Firefox. Other browsers such as Safari and alternative devices like phones and tablets are not supported and can cause problems with submitting responses.

  • Casper is an online test that can be taken in a location of your choice.

  • To comply with our Terms of Use, you must take the test alone, with both your microphone and webcam turned on throughout the duration of the test.

Starting the test:

  • Log in at least 30 minutes before your test start time to check that your device is working and ready for the test.

  • Wait until the scheduled start time to begin your test. It may take up to 5 minutes for your test to start.

  • Send us a message via the chat bubble at the bottom right of your account if your test does not start after 5 minutes.

  • Use the same chat bubble if you are late to determine your options. Late entry is not guaranteed and latecomers may be refused entry.

  • Please speak loudly and clearly. Do your best to speak into the microphone, so that your responses can be clearly heard.

  • Contact the support team using the chat bubble (available on the bottom right corner of each page) as soon as possible. Our live support team is available for all tests.

  • Provide as much detail as possible and we’ll respond as soon as we can. It may take some time to investigate.

  • Avoid starting multiple conversations as this slows down our ability to assist.

After the Test

Completion:

  • When you've finished your test, you can either complete the optional demographic survey or close the window to exit your test.

  • You will receive an email confirming the completion of your test within 24 hours.

  • You can Add More Programs to your distribution list even after completing Casper.

Score delivery:

  • Casper Results are automatically shared with the programs on your distribution list 2 to 3 weeks after completing the test.

  • Your Quartile Score will be available 4 to 5 weeks after completing Casper.

CaRMS Result Distribution: Refer to this article.

Duet

Duet is an untimed value-alignment assessment that compares what you value in a program with what the program has to offer. Duet will automatically show on your home page after reserving Casper if one of the programs on your distribution list requires it.

There is no practice Duet. You can complete Duet only once per admissions cycle

Duet deadlines:

  • Duet must be submitted before the earliest distribution deadline of the programs on your list that require it.

  • The deadline shown in your account is a recommendation to complete Duet within the 14 days after your Casper test so that your results are delivered together.

Duet results delivery:

  • Duet results are shared with programs on your distribution list that require it 24 hours after completion.
