9. Existing home chargers: plug & charge or CPMS

What happens to wallboxes at drivers' homes when you leave your current supplier.

Many drivers already have a wallbox at home that is managed by the previous supplier, the charge point operator (CPO). When you switch, that wallbox stays in place. You only decide how it is managed from now on.

Standard solution: plug & charge

In most cases the wallbox is disconnected from the CPO and set to plug & charge. The charger no longer asks for a badge: the driver plugs in and charging starts. EEVEE measures the session through the car, so the wallbox itself does not need to report anything.

  • No extra cost and no new hardware.

  • Works with any wallbox, whatever the brand.

  • Reimbursement continues through vehicle data.

Tip: ask the previous supplier or the installer to release the charger and switch it to plug & charge (sometimes called free charging or autostart mode).

When you need more control: EEVEE CPMS

In some cases, plug & charge is not enough. The EEVEE Charge Point Management System (CPMS) connects the wallbox directly to EEVEE when:

  • you want to restrict access, so only the employer's badge can start a session;

  • charge passes need to be whitelisted on the wallbox;

  • the car is not supported by vehicle telematics, and the wallbox has to deliver the session data for reimbursement.
