When doing a paddle raise at your in-person event, you can collect donation amounts pledged during the paddle raise and input them into the bidder's profile - so their donation amount is added to their cart before they check out.
Below, we've created a list of helpful tips for you to keep in mind if you're looking to run a paddle raise for your upcoming event.
Step 1: Use an attendee's assigned bidder number on their paddles.
The easiest way to avoid confusion during your paddle raise is to have your participant's paddle number match their assigned bidder number. That way, it not only reinforces that number for the bidder as they participate in your auction, it makes it easier for whomever is recording the winners and their bids to "match" it to the correct bidder once the auction has concluded.
Bidders will need to be registered as a participant for your auction in order to receive a bidder number. If your bidders have forgotten their bidder number, you can guide them on how to retrieve that here; if you need to pull a list of bidder numbers, you can do so by following the steps here.
Step 2: Have a designated person to record winning bidder numbers and donation commitments.
As we mentioned in the previous step, you should have someone who is recording the winners of each item and their bids (or their "donation commitments") after each item is claimed. That way, you or someone from your team can manually enter them into the winning bidder's profile once the paddle raise is over.
Step 3: Run your paddle raise before the other components of your auction or event are scheduled to end.
We recommend running your paddle raise before your auction is scheduled to end; that way, whomever is recording those winning bidders has time to manually enter them into the winning bidder's profile before the auction has concluded. Doing so gives your winners the chance to check out at the end of the event and pay for all items that they won throughout the auction in one, simple transaction.
