Why we're introducing a monthly IBAN fee
Effective 30 September 2026 · Applies to GBP, EUR, and USD wire IBANs on the Standard plan
From 30 September 2026, each GBP, EUR, or USD wire IBAN you hold costs $0.99 a month. Every IBAN is a real account held at a partner bank, and that bank charges us to keep it open whether or not it's used. The fee covers that cost, and we'd rather charge for it openly than bury it somewhere else.
The fee is included with nsave Pro — if you're on Pro, nothing changes for you.
If you actively use your IBAN, there's nothing to do. If you don't want to pay for one, close it in the app — that's the only thing that stops the charge.
⚠️ Emptying an IBAN does not stop the fee. The $0.99 is charged for every IBAN you hold, whether or not there is money in it, and we take it from your USD balance. So moving your money to your USD wallet and leaving the IBAN open means you keep being charged — out of the wallet. Closing the IBAN is what stops the charge.
✅ Who is excluded from these fees
The following users are not charged the $5.99 activation fee or the $0.99 monthly fee:
GCC residents— for their USD account
EU residents— for their EUR account
UK residents— for their GBP account
Prior activation fee payers ($5.99 or $1.99)— per IBAN: the activation fee exempts you from the $0.99 monthly fee for that specific IBAN only. If you open a different IBAN currency, the $5.99 activation and $0.99/month apply to that new IBAN
nsave Pro subscribers— included in your subscription
What's changing
From 30 September 2026, we charge $0.99 a month for each IBAN you hold in GBP, EUR, or USD wire. If you hold two IBANs, that's $1.98 a month.
Existing IBANs
If you already hold an IBAN, your first charge is on 30 September 2026, then on the same date each month after that.
New IBANs opened from now on
You pay a one-off $5.99 activation fee when you open the IBAN. The $0.99 monthly charge then starts one month later on the same date each month. For example: open on 3 November, and your first monthly charge is 3 December.
ℹ️ Nobody is charged before 30 September 2026. If you're on nsave Pro, you don't pay any of this — the activation fee and the monthly fee are both included in your Pro subscription.
What isn't affected
Your USD wallet and USD ACH details — free, with no monthly fee and no activation fee.
Your card, @ntag, invest account, rewards rate, and transfer fees — all unchanged.
Receiving money into an active IBAN — still free.
Who this applies to
The fee applies if you hold a GBP, EUR, or USD wire IBAN on 30 September 2026 and are not in one of the excluded groups listed above.
⚠️ Moving from Pro to Standard? If you switch from Pro to Standard at any point, the $0.99 monthly fee starts applying from your next monthly charge date (unless you're in one of the excluded groups).
Your options
If you use your IBAN — do nothing
No action needed. The $0.99 monthly fee will be collected automatically from your balance.
If you don't want to pay for an IBAN — close it
Closing is the only thing that stops the charge. Leaving an IBAN empty, or moving your money to your USD wallet, does not — the fee is still taken for that IBAN, out of your USD balance.
How to close an IBAN account, in the app
Move the balance out first. An account with money in it can't be closed — you'll see "Move any remaining balances before closing this account." Send it to another account of yours, withdraw it to your local currency, or move it to your USD balance.
On the Home screen, tap the currency account you want to close — your EUR, GBP or USD account.
Tap Account details.
If it's your USD account, switch to the SWIFT (International) tab first. Your free ACH (USA) details aren't affected.
Tap the ⋯ menu at the top right and choose Close account. In the run-up to a charge, the same option also appears at the bottom of the screen.
Confirm. You'll see "Account closure requested" and the wire details disappear once it's processed.
🔁 Repeat for every currency you don't plan to use. The fee is charged per IBAN, so closing your EUR account doesn't close your GBP or USD one. Each currency has to be closed separately.
For every option — including what to do if you can't move your balance out — read the full closure guide.
✅ Closing an IBAN is not closing your nsave account. Your account, card, @ntag, and invest account all stay open.
ℹ️ Want your IBAN back later? Closing can't be undone. Getting a new IBAN after archiving or closure costs $5.99 on Standard. Free on Pro.
