How to Fix "Camera Error" During KYC Verification
Why does this happen?
When you try to take a photo to complete your KYC verification, if your browser or device doesn't have camera access permission enabled, you'll see an error message like this:
[Camera Error! Unable to access your camera. Please make sure you've granted permission and have a working camera connected. Note: Only the back camera is supported. If you have multiple cameras, ensure the correct one is selected.]
This issue usually occurs when:
Camera access permission is blocked in the browser
The front camera is selected on the device (only the back camera is supported)
There's a temporary technical issue with the browser
Don't worry — following the steps below will resolve this issue easily.
Solution 1: Enable camera permission from Google Chrome (mobile)
If you're using the Google Chrome browser on mobile, follow these steps to enable camera permission:
Step 1: Go to Settings Open the Chrome browser and tap the three-dot (⋮) icon on the right side of the address bar. Then click on Settings from the menu.
Step 2: Go to Site settings From the Settings menu, scroll down to find and tap on Site settings.
Step 3: Select the Camera option On the Site settings page, under the Permissions section, you'll find the Camera option. Tap on it.
Step 4: Enable camera permission You can now grant permission in two ways:
To allow permission for a specific site: If you see our website listed under the Blocked list, tap on that site's name and set the Camera permission to Allow.
To keep permission enabled by default: Turn on the main Camera toggle switch at the top of the page — it will say "Ask first before allowing sites to use your camera (recommended)". When this is on, a pop-up will appear whenever a site wants to use the camera, and you can select Allow directly from there.
Solution 2: Select the correct camera
Please remember that only the back camera is supported for KYC verification. If your device has multiple cameras, make sure the back camera is selected when taking the photo. Trying with the front (selfie) camera may trigger this error message.
Solution 3: Retry
After completing the steps above:
Close the browser completely and reopen it
Go back to the KYC page and access the photo capture option
If the camera error message appears again, click the Retry button
If the issue still isn't resolved
If the camera error message continues to appear even after following all the steps above, please check the following:
Check whether camera permission is also enabled for the Chrome app from your phone's main device settings (Settings > Apps > Chrome > Permissions > Camera > Allow)
Test whether your device's camera works properly in another app
Make sure Chrome is updated to the latest version
If the issue persists, try using a different browser instead of Chrome
