Our tests report a range rather than a single number because all biological measurements carry a small amount of uncertainty. Providing a range is the most accurate and transparent way to reflect your true cortisol level, since your actual value is almost certainly within those boundaries.
It’s also important to know that natural variations in cortisol throughout the day are much larger than the small range we report.
For example, morning cortisol levels are typically much higher than evening levels. Therefore, the exact number within that narrow range matters less than the broader pattern of how your cortisol levels change over time.
We share results in this way to provide you with the most reliable picture possible.
