A template is a project pre-loaded with your standard cost structure. No special functionality required. Just smart setup and the Duplicate Project feature.
The goal: duplicate your template, adjust the numbers, and you're already 80% of the way there.
Build one template per development type: Land Subdivision, Townhouses, Apartments. Each tailored to that product type.
Set the project status to Template in the Dashboard so it's easy to find and never accidentally edited.
Setting Up Your Cost Template
Templates are most useful in the Costs section. Land, Sales, and Funding will always be different per project so focus your template on Costs.
Step 1: Create a new project and name it clearly. For example, Template: Land Subdivision or Template: Townhouses.
Step 2: Set up the Costs section tabs to match your typical cost structure. Keep tab naming consistent — your reports will always read the same way across projects.
Step 3: Add all possible cost line items for your development type. Leave amounts empty or add indicative pricing ranges in the item name as a built-in reference point.
Indicative Pricing Ranges in Item Names
Add indicative cost ranges directly into the item name. When you duplicate the template the ranges are already visible. Just update the quantity to match the new project lot count. Everything recalculates automatically.
Using Your Template
Find your template in the Dashboard — filter by Template status.
Duplicate Project from the Actions menu and rename it.
Open the scenario and delete irrelevant cost items.
Update quantities and rates.
Add your Land, Sales, and Funding inputs.
Never work directly in your template project, duplicate to a new project first.
